Posted this in the wrong forum, so reposting here.

I am pretty paperless, but there are times that you need to print something.  I love my HP printer/scanner with iPrint, but the cartridges are getting outrageous.  Especially because I am printing coloring pages for my 6 year old!  The EcoTank idea seems cool, I am OK with the loss in quality for photo printing, any first-hand experience?

Frickin lasers, man. I don't like ink jets.

The last several printer threads have all come down to Laser if you can get away with B&W. For me, anything beyond that would be photo quality, and that turns into a debate between having a printer or using a print service.

Even color lasers are pretty darn cheap these days. I've yet to see a consumer grade ink jet that could come close to the print quality of any laser printer. Not to mention print speed, prints per $ and toner having a pretty much indefinite shelf life.

I have an HP Office Jet and quickly tired of paying $200 for a set of cartridges.  Got onto Amazon and ordered a SET of generic chip-enabled cartridges for $20... the entire set for $20 - with 2 black cartridges.  They have worked perfectly since early last September.

At that price,  I will keep feeding it $20 ink for the grandkids (and our) printing until it dies or I can't get print drivers any more.

Don't own stock, but likely should.

No experience but I thought it was a brilliant concept when it first came out. Almost makes me wish I had enough use for a printer to own one cheeky

I agree with TenToeTurbo. We have a Brother HL-3170CDW Color Laser because it was fairly cheap at $170 and the quality is great and the colors last a long while, couldn't be happier with it
