I'm re-doing my wood burning fireplace. It's a brick facade and granite hearth. Because of the uneven nature of brick, I've got some gaps along the back edge where the hearth meets the brick and I'd like to give it a more finished look. Do I just need some mortar mix in there, or is there an option that might be better suited for this application?

You can buy high heat refractory cement in a caulking tube. It may be easier to apply than poking at it with a trowel

This is what I was going to say. It should be available in several colors as well.
