Just emailed the seller today, waiting for a response, but this is the one vehicle that can get me to break my self-imposed "no hooptie projects" rule.
Rotary experience a plus.

No, he’s farther south. Billy bottle caps maybe?
I one time had to get a police escort out of a hockey rink in Springfield. No help here though, all the rotary folks I know are either in Champaign or have moved away.

Yes, Billy is the first one I was thinking of. PM him & he may be able to help.
The other guy had a built thread on his AWD cargo van that he was turning into a camper. I bought his cargo divider for the 99 Express I had at the time...probably around 2013/14. I haven’t seen any updates in a long time though.
that was me until photobucket bombed.
I'm available if you're interested. Is there a craiglist ad I can see if it's legit?

Thanks Ben, glad to see you’re still around! How’s the van?
added a hightop roof and a bunch of miles traveling from mountains to the Gulf. I need to restore my build thread and update all the new additions.
sorry for the highjack, talked to bottlecaps tonight about going to see truck

Thanks, Ben and Billy. I really appreciate this, and owe you both dinner if I wind up heading that way. The owner is supposed to be sending me some more pictures, and I plan on talking to him a bit before I ask you to go over there.
My main concerns are
1. Rust
2. If the original parts are still there, as the transmission and original engine are worth rebuilding if included to keep it "original"
3. Prior poor bodywork or Bondo work
4. If the 13b that was going into it has even chuffs
5. How motivated he is to sell it. REPUs aren't common, and a good, restored runner is worth more than that, but a project is, well, a project.
Here is the ad
Awesome. I hope you get this. For rust, one of the main areas you should check (and it's random) is by the fusebox on the driver's side in the engine bay, and same place on the passenger side. That catches water and rusts through, and ends up letting water down into the floorpans. The other place, which I believe is showing through on the passenger side fender, is the flange that mounts the fender to the body. My clean, rust-free fender and parts-car rust free fender both have some serious scale there, though it hasn't spread yet.
That does look really clean though. Even the inner fender covers for the suspension are still there, which is neat. I'm also jealous of the power brakes!
