Anybody in or near Waterbury CT want to check out a car for me?
I think Woody is in that area. Well he is in Western CT at the very least, but he may be more on the coast side where as Waterbury is more centrally located.
HUGE Thank You to Woody for checking out an Insight listed on Ebay for me today. While the price may have looked good AND the fact that there were lots of pictures and service history in the ad, having eyes and ears and nose on the ground totally paid off.
Eyes: Although picts showed rear bumper issues there were no accidents on Carfax report there was evidence of paint work on both rear quarters.
Ears: Engine had a pronounced ticking (lifter/valve) noise which was verified by listening to another Insight on the lot which did not have these issues.
Nose: These cars have a leaky seal issue along the A/B pillar (over door) which cause water on floorboards, wet carpets and musty smell. Yep, without a local nose I could not have known this.
Woody, you have a grouper sandwich in your future at The Hurricane or Woody's Waterfront next time you come down. Thank you again!!
BTW, have I mentioned lately that i love this community. You guys really are the best.

For the record, I just took a look at the photos that I took of the rear quarters. You can't see any signs of damage in them, but when you see the car in person and touch the panels, it's immediately obvious, even though the color match was really good.
The salesman's card listed his name as "Sales Rep".
