I don't know about Ecklers, but a LOT of mail order companies use shipping charges as a profit center. We do it a bit, to cover handling costs.

Its the evil marketing genius of the Prime accounts. It gets you to check Amazon for everything before you buy it elsewhere, but its also worked in my favor a lot and more than paid for the annual fee in shipping costs.
