If you have any sort of practical automotive experience and are looking for work here in MI, shoot me a PM.
My company ("my company" as in the one I work for) is looking for someone with automotive experience, especially an ex or current technician with a brain on his/her shoulders and the ability to write a complete sentence or two. The job would be in Auburn Hills, MI.
It's hard to take your posts seriously with that wenis gasket
Too far away.
And the rust... :SHUDDER:
Or I would have been on this faster then flies on fresh poop on a hot day.

No way would I move to Michigan. Sorry.
I'm from Michigan but now I live where there are actual jobs. It's also really cool to buy 15 year old cars and be able to take bolts off without breaking them. Good luck with your search and it's very cool of you to post this on the board.
Masdeuce, where are you living now? Things here were VERY bad for a few years, but they are looking up now. In fact, I just heard on the radio today that MI is one of the top 5 states where you are most likely to get a raise. The 5 states least likely were in the SE part of the US.
I'd love to help someone from the board, or a friend/family member of someone here. I figure, this is the best place to fine someone that I don't actually know, but wouldn't be afraid of helping out.

I live in Illinois. Rust never sleeps. Are you pulling my leg? Are there really these kind of cars?
In reply to Pete240Z:
Just did an engine change on my son's 15 year old Escort, including having to pull most of the front sub frame and suspension. We broke exactly 0 bolts, though we didn't reuse the flange bolts behind the catalytic converter. I have also never snapped a bolt on my 29 year old RX-7, though I have repaired some rust.
Back to your regularly scheduled job search.

I've been in the Houston area for the last 12 years. It has been a spectacularly lucky time to be in the oil industry. A few years after I moved down here I bought a 15 year old k-car for a project. It was beat, no care whatsoever had been given to the car. Hosed off the bottom and you could have eaten off of it. Not one single rusty bolt. Blew my mind. My whole extended family is still in Michigan as well as most of the people I went to school with (Michigan Tech) and I get a lot of news. Most everyone I know who wants to work has a job and people are starting to complain again about working too many hours. For a few years they'd work as much as they were asked, they were so happy to have any work at all. I really don't even know anybody I can point in your direction, they're all working right now. It's a good problem to have I suppose.

I know my 17yr old Dak comes apart just fine without firewrenches or mega ft/lb impacts. To top it off, it started out being sold in CT/MA....
