This weekend is the annual .22 rimfire sporter event at Camp Perry in Port Clinton Ohio.
Anyone else going? We will be there today and tomorrow.

They sure do, rifle and pistol on venders row. Didn't shop it real heavy though so I can't quote calipers and quantities. A few vendors had signs up "don't blame us for the price increases".

Seriously? It doesn't get more big time than that!

I was away all day today and will be away, again, somewhere else tomorrow but I typically pass Camp Perry 2-3 times a week. I live 30 minutes East of there.
If you need great food and even a better beer selection, Mekong Vietnamese Restaurant This is there second location, their First Location was named the #1 beer bar in the nation.
We actually cleaned out Tiff's truck today...found a brick of .22. I was happy. It must have been left in there from the last time we went out shooting.
Bricks of 22 were going for 100 to 175, depending on the grade.

Thanks for the tip!
We ended up at Crates Silver Top in Fremont. It was good pub grub. And they had Yuengling on tap! I'm bringing a couple cases home...

If you are in a hotel in the Fremont area, breakfast at Whitey's Diner
If you order 2 eggs, toast, hashbrowns and sausage, it will arrive at you table on three plates! The sausage gets its own plate. Fresh, bulk sausage. An ice cream scooper goes into the sausage (like hamburger) and that blob goes on the grill. Once on the grill, it is covered with a grill iron which presses it into a odd shaped patty. Huge portion, damn good.
If you are more in the Port Clinton area, The Tin Goose Diner is new. Retro style diner, at the airport, in the new Aviation Museum. http://www.tingoosediner.com
I have had good lunches there. Manager was telling me a big breakfast hit is the GI Special. Real S.O.S served on a metal tray and all.

Yeah, seriously. You could say he's good. He ran the Annapolis gun range for a while (years, I think), taught Olympic shooters and more. He had his training system all written up and then tossed it all out 2 weeks before I asked him for it. Oh well. These days he doesn't shoot. Just rides Harleys, and insures that cheap trash bags make it to you.
Thank you for the tips!
We were camping right at the fort, couldn't convince the others to go any where but the shooter's mess- BARF!
The next time we go we will follow your advice.

Wow, that is too bad. Those guys are uh-mazing, and don't get anywhere near the credit they deserve.
There seems to be a big demand for training though. I've been in the SAFS at Camp Perry the last three years and it has been packed. In fact they turned hundreds away because they couldn't accommodate them!

Just heard on the radio they are holding an Appleseed event up at my range this coming weekend. Hmm maybe a use for that brick of .22 we found in Tiff's truck.
I need to call them today and find out if it is the low round count class or full thing and to see if there are any open spots left. Just sold a couple leashes so I maybe able to actually swing the fee.
Then to decide on which rifle to take. AR with drop in .22 conversion or just the 10/22. I am guessing my target and sniper/varmint rifles would not be a good choice for the event.
