Well the Tri-cities area is a good one.
I live about an hour from Chapel Hill. I spent a lot, a lot, a lot of time there in High School and College (when I only lived 10 and 20 minutes away). We have an incredible music scene, if your into that. It's a college town for sure so there are both negatives and positives to that. But spitfirebill is right, if your in the medical field (or pharmaceutical, or computer software, hardware, technologies, etc.), there is something for you in the Research Triangle Park.
