Hey all, I'm looking for a career change. I'm currently in real estate as a residential appraiser and real estate agent. After all of the changes going on, I want to get into something different but still my own business. I came across roof shingle cleaning, and it sounds, well, interesting.

Does anyone on hear do that, or know someone who does? If so I just had a few simple questions, such as the better chemicals to use, and a source for them. Are there any good sources for more info( I have done rather extensive online searches already, and just found "by my xyz product, ITS THE BEST").

I already have my own business, so I am familiar with setting up and running one, just looking for some tips from a pro.

Thanks very much Paul paulpetrun@yahoo.com

The only experience I have was from a liability claim for property damage against the owner of the roof cleaning company. He apparently did not mix the solution correctly an caused about $10k in damage to the claimants plants.

Mix the stuff properly and get insurance. The roof looked clean though.

All I can say is that right now, construction as a whole is in the crapper. There are tons of guys with way more qualifications sitting around waiting. Not being a jerk, but its the truth. I wouldn't quit the job I have just yet. Maybe put out some feelers to see. I might suggest that you hire an experienced, out of work, roofer to help you, even if its only to consult.
