Got my butt whooped, missed 7 out of 10 picks. Do'h! Who'd have thunk that Ambrose would have a good run?? And Stewart not being able to restart the car...

I had no idea Ambrose was a driver in V8 Supercars, or at least I didnt make the connection. I thought the name sounded familiar.
In reply to Anti-stance: I grew up going to 1/4 mile and 1/2 mile asphalt and dirt ovals in WI with my uncle, and been to a few nascar races over the years. Never had pit passes at a nascar race though.
Unfortunately the last actual Nascar race I went in Dover with some friends, I managed to get sunscreen in my eye in the parking lot whilst tailgating before the race, spent the entire race basically not being able to keep my eyes open. What a drag. LOL

Yeah, I got screwed out of those two.
Failboat, I recent started to like the small local asphalt ovals, however one of them(Lanier Speedway) just went under last year. I have debated on buying a FWD oval car to play with on the weekends for waaay cheaper than my road course car. But with Lanier going away the next closest track is another 30 miles ontop of the 50 miles it was to Lanier. Well, that and I don't have a place to keep it.
I figured out last year there is a dirt half mile oval track in Jamaica, VA, a little over an hour from my house. Didn't get to go last year things like my wedding kept getting in the way. But I hope to go a few times this year. Love watching the dirt track races, drift racing ftw.
I am sucking big time so far. You would think this years Champion, and the guy who tied him, would be safe bets. And a guy with 5 championships in a row should be a no brainer!
I think I'll just start randomly picking with my eyes closed. I'll have to do better.
As for the FWD oval track car,. Do it! It is a ton of fun. I have 2 paved ovals within 20 mins of me. One runs Friday nights, and the other Saturday nights. Used to run both tracks, full schedules.
Thats two weeks I got screwed by the 48. I am no JJ fan and me betting on him two weeks in a row to come up big for me and failing, is really pissing me off. lol.

That's on my bucket list of things to do. I live less than 5 miles from one of the "NASCAR Hometracks", a small dirt oval track. I can hear them running when we have the windows open. I'm also only 45 minutes from an asphalt track. Would love to do an entry level car there one time.
Oh great. I just read the rules on some of the entry level cars at another semi-local dirt track I just found a few minutes ago. There are two classes in particular that require street tires, stock drivetrain and suspension. WTF. STOP ENABLING ME GRM!

Hahaha. I went to a race at Lanier and found a guy that had an Integra race car and started picking his brain on the cost of stuff. He said he had about $4000ish in the car, tires ran $300-$400 a set for the required Hoosiers, $35 for the pit pass(racing entry fee ), and your yearly NASCAR license if it is a NASCAR sanctioned "Hometrack". They brand the tires when you buy them to make sure they were bought at the track, no outside tires were allowed. For $35 and gas, you can go racing every weekend and probably watch a fight after one of the races. lol

That is a little higher money into the car than I put, but some guys do spend that. I prefer to put more work into the car than cash. The rest seems on par. Plus a firesuit, helmet, 5 point harness etc. But once you have the equipment it is just your weekly entrance fee and fuel. Just a tip, get an auto wreckers as a sponsor. The other bonus is prize money. My track pays all the way to last place, which is $20. Same as the weekly fee to enter. Plus prize money at the end of the year for the points fund. And a nifty trophy.

Thats awesome man! I have been thinking hard about it. I did see a guy selling a ZX2 asphalt car for like $2500 not too long ago that he ran at AMS and it was a winner. I would consider doing dirt track, but I really want to do asphalt.
Sorry for hijacking/straying off topic. Back on topic, I am still pissed of at the 48, 14, 1, and 99 for ruining my week.

Not that I want to enable you or anything, but this car ran at the local NASCAR hometrack I mentioned earlier and apparently is still class legal. It's been on CL for a while now. Came >< this close to buying it myself.

Picks in.
I am a little irked that Speed is showing the Australian Supercars coverage at the same time as the Nascar race.
I kind of liked having it shown at 3 AM so it could be recorded without conflicts. Plus who is going to watch V8 Supercars when theres NASCAR on? If you do, the terrorists win! AMERICA!
Yes. I can record both at once, although if a conflict comes up then I have to pick and choose. I'm probably just not going to record the Nascar race and actually watch it. I dont know what my wife has set but chances are theres something.
well I hated that the race ended with rain, but my picks are finally starting to work out like they should!
I would have had 1st, 2nd and about 4th or 5th place cars picked if Gordon hadn't tried to leave pit road with some "extras"....do'h!
Anyone else having trouble with the site this week? I think its showing the correct total score, but hasn't corrected the standings, when I go to check my picks, its still showing them as if I picked them, not the results after last weekends race.
