I stayed at the Westin in Denver. Three phone calls of roughly 20 minutes each back to British Columbia were over $100.00 per phone call. And to think I was trying to save money over using my cel phone. So 60 minutes of talk time was more than my flight where they burned fuel and fed me a bag of peanuts. Thanks Westin you berkeleying rapists.

I didn't realize there were any out there that thought that hotel phones were cheaper than their cell phones …

Nope. But I have used a google voice number to make international calls - their rates are quite a bit cheaper than your cell phone plan, assuming you have a smartphone you can set it up on (stupid windows phone...)

I went to Houston in 1999 and this was the case then. Nothing new.

My cell was 25 cents a minute back then and the hotel wanted $1.25 USD per minute.
