I'm not sure yet how I feel about it. The course doesn't seem that cool. I think it's great that LA let them set up a street course, but other than that it's not very exciting.

just saw Pastrana run with hand throttle control- and he ran pretty damn good.. thought that was kinda neat.
Yeah he did really well having to adapt to hand control.
Micheal Jernberg is driving a Skoda. I imagine most people watching this are saying WTF is a Skoda?

This.

did you see the in car footage from that crash? you could see him pucker up right before he hit the wall, then a few seconds of "oh, god, i know this is gonna hurt" after he hit the wall, then almost blurting out a string of obscenities once his broken foot told his body how painful that really was was.. but he got out of the car on his own and walked away from it.. say what you will about him, but the dude's got that perfect combination of tough and stupid..
Pastrana did good IMO. He had to adapt to a hand throttle and didn't give up even though he had a cast on. When he ran the second round you could tell he wasn't going to give up.
I only saw a few minutes of it, but I didn't really understand the format. It basically seemed like a bad touge course where the car behind had to keep up with (or not) the car in front. And then there was a bit where it seemed a lot of cars got red flagged. It was not apparent that this was the end of the course or not.
In reply to Duke:
It's technically side by side, but the course is so tight, it's pass when you can.
No one got red flagged, the race itself got red flagged when there was only one person left with a functional car. I think in one of the 2nd Qualifying heats Dave Mirra was the only one left racing and they just red flagged it and named him the winner.
I was pretty stoked when the Citroen was treeing them all, less stoked when Foust punted it into the wall. Happy to see Deegan win though. He seems like less of a tardbox than Foust.
Watched part of it at the bar yesterday, so no sound.
But it looked really, really lame. I wouldn't care about watching anymore in the future.
the part of making the jump optional really messes up the running order. Cars get really spread out towards the end of the race.

I would say stupid tips the scales a bit more. He broke his foot on an un-judged stunt that he failed 30 seconds before hand. He lets adrenaline make his decisions too often. When you have sponsors with 6 figure investments, that's a dumb move.
I think these teams get what they deserve for having BMX/Rally Racer ,Skateboarder/Rally Racer, and MotoX/ Rally Racer.
Why would you spend money on someone who has such a high likelihood of injuring in events before the most expensive (yours) rally event.

I understand what you are saying, but I am pretty sure that the cash outlay and logistics to do this are a bit lower than the organized circuit that they participate in, and it allows their most recognizable names grow the fan base for the sport as a whole. I was entertained, and agree there needs to be more jumps.
Anyone know why all the Subie Guys (Pastrana, Mirra, Higgins) had Vermont license plates? They were all personalized, but I want to know the signifigance of Vermont.
The stage rally cars have to be "street legal," licensed, and insured for road use.
I'm not sure why they put plates on the rallycross cars.
I'm guessing that Pastrana's, Mirras, and Higgins (who is actually driving Pastranas old car, and Mirra is driving Blocks old car) are just Unlimited cars from stage rally converted to rally-x. I know i've seen Higgins car in person before, and that was at stage rally.

This.
And I don't know about the whole Xtreme "athletes" coming over from their respective "sports" and dominating in the rally series simply because money is buying them the best equipment. I was glad to see the British guy beat them with his real talent.
Any who it seemed like the Ford's didn't have the power that the Scoobie's and the Citroen had. Def neat to see the Hyundai, Citroen, and Skoda racing!
