Aside from it being an effective sleep aid, I mean.

My girlfriend's parents might be giving her their Avalon, which they've owned from nearly new, and has been incredibly well cared for, knowing them. It has somewhere around 200k-250k miles, and the only real issue I'm aware of is that one of its speakers (her mom referred to it as a "surround" system - was there such thing available OEM?) sounds blown, and it may need rear struts, which they'll do before handing it over.

It's a perfectly comfy car, which would be good for her 100+ mile commute, it doesn't come with a significant gas mileage penalty, and it's a beige Toyota barge, so it's basically invisible, which has its advantages.

Anything we should check out that would make this free car unexpectedly expensive?

Create a huge list of things that are wrong and demand a massive price reduction for each of them

...you know, gift horse and all of that

Heh. Yeah, I don't mean to try to beat them up or anything. Just want to make sure these things aren't know for assploding transmissions at 265k or anything like that. They're far enough off my radar screen that I know exactly zero about them. Just a big Camry, right?

It's just a big Camry. 2001 Camry thread going on around here now would be useful I think.

Full fluid flush / replace, good alignment, drive into dirt. Oh, and get that surround sound fixed.

Good call. I passed right over that thread, since it's so...beige.

And this Avalon is both literally and figuratively beige. I can already feel the excitement.

My parents just got rid of my grandmas. It drove nice and since it was new, they had no major problems with it. I drove it to Jacksonville Fl from NC and it was very comfy.
