Business trip. I will be there three days, fully engaged for ten hours per day, getting off mid afternoon.

I don't want any of the typical Las Vegas activity. Any.

Anything else neat to do or go drive to see?

There are supercar track days and even a place that will give you a couple laps of a dirt course in a prerunner-style race truck. That's what I'd do in Vegas, and I'm not bad enough at math for gambling

The Hoover Dam was pretty neat. You don't get to go down by the actual equipment anymore.

I did a Hoover tour in 2000 or so and another one a year or two ago. Access was unchanged between the two visits.

Valley Of Fire State Park is worth a visit, especially if you're willing/eager to hike a little.

Hoover dam and Lake Mead were both good stops. Avoid Desert Springs Hosptal if anything goes wrong. One of the most entertaining things I did was visit the casino at Planet Hollywood at 5am watching people gamble their lives away. I was a bit disappointed the shot girls weren't out at that hour though.

Techatticup mine/Eldorado Canyon. You can head on down the road and dip your toes in the Colorado while you're there. It's cool tour of an old gold mine, plus the site has been the set of various movies/tv shows/music videos. And for a midwesterner like me I might as well have been on Mars.

Shelby museum and Hoover Dam sound likely in my mind. We'll see if I have any free time.

Thanks!

i always enjoyed going to the Auto Collections in the Linq hotel. basically a car museum with most the cars for sale, so the inventory slowly changes over time and they have some really cool stuff. My favorite part is that they have a handful of Ford RS200's, after looking at there website it still looks like they have 3 of them, 1 of which is an evo.

I was going to say this, I was there 3 weeks ago, I never thought I'd ever see an RS200 in real life, and I saw 3 the same day, an Evo and a pair of Homologations, they're all for sale even. They have an XJ220 and an 037 Stradale, as well as a lot of other cars you're average Big 3 fan wouldn't give a second look, but well worth the $13 admission for you're typical GRMer.

We were there for 4 nights, I tagged along with SWMBO who was there for work, I just had to cover my plane ticket and food. We saw several shows, and ate a lot of really good food.

Blue Man Group was fun, Jersey Boys was WAY better than I expected, KA was amazing, Bodies: The Exhibition was really interesting and a little creepy.

We were there 2 years ago and saw Penn & Teller, and Michael Jackson One, both were really good as well. I'm not much of an MJ fan, but those Cirque folks put on one hell of a show. We went to the aquarium at Mandalay too, I was pretty underwhelmed by it, I recall not feeling I got my monies worth there.

You are on the East coast so I would encourage you to visit the local In-and-Out Burger. You know, just to see what all the fuss is about.

I'll probably do that just to say that I did. I'm not too good about that stuff though. I was in Ca twice, and I didn't think of it, but a colleague drove out and touched the Pacific just to say that he had.

That truck could only carry everyone if we were three abreast in each row. Maybe in five years when everyone is out of huge car seats and into just boosters.

Shelby doesn't take all that long if you don't have much time. Hoover is much cooler and takes longer.

I would have loved to take the monorail up and down the strip. The size of all the newer hotels was impressive. I was a bit disappointed that there wasn't much of the old Rat Pack Vegas left as that was what I was picturing when we decided to fly out there. I did put on a tie and make my wife go to the The Steak House at Circus Circus.
