At what point does an abandoned, visibly damaged non functional vehicle left in the middle of a blocked road with a slew of others become a free for all parts car?
How do we budget said parts against challenge budget.
Is it still the $2000 challenge, or is it now the 200 roll of 2 ply challenge?
Make sure it’s not stolen and left abandoned before doing anything.
Once the military hits it with their apc on the way through you're good to go on stripping it for parts. Just keep an eye out for howlers and walkers and you'll be ok.
Where is the line between "home invasion" (bad) and "foraging" (good)?
Do we start wearing our Mad Max attire now or will there be a memo?
Do all laws go away at the same time or will there be a sliding scale sort of a thing? (Already hearing about police not responding to minor traffic accidents)

I think we can do it as soon as our vehicles match appropriately- for example I can wear my respirator, black motorcycle jacket, and armored gloves when driving my black/red/dented Ford product, but not in the yellow Toyota, which requires more of a brightly colored mohawk approach.

Local state police barracks issued a memo over the weekend, not responding to any non life threatening emergencies. Police reports will be taken over the phone and gotten back to down the road at some point.
So could it be considered civic volunteerism? You're cleaning up the roads to keep emergency access routes clear, after all.
I'm tired of people "parking" in the travel lanes. They think that because they're going to be just a minute, that it's okay to inconvenience everyone else because they're too lazy to park properly. I approve of cars being deemed eligible for salvage the moment a driver leaves the vehicle, even if it's idling and the flashers are on.
So a $50 parts donor is being delivered tonight for the Panhard.

Me and my buddy at the butcher shop have already discussed this. We are both OK with eating human flesh if it comes to it.

well, that escalated quickly. Just beware of the fat ones. They're the most dangerous.
In reply to bobzilla :
But the fat adds more flavor plus the energy boost.

I want to know what they are actually doing as there is no one actually out on the roads or anywhere for that matter.
I drove in and out of Boston today during what would be the hight of rush hour and it was like I was driving at 2:00AM. If this is going to be the new norm I am completely stoked for it.

I heard birds chirping while I was putting gas in the jeep this morning. You have no idea how weird it is to hear birds where I am.
This just in, all the people who "hate to drive," who "can't wait for driverless cars to arrive," who live every waking moment in a FOMO haze of texts and social media, don't actually need to be out on the roads at all. How the roads are now is how they should be if only the people who need to physically be somewhere are travelling.

My wife gets mad when I refer to the pets as the "Emergency Backup Rations."

The two things the virus will do for mankind is alleviate the elderly population and dumb people. I've been saying for years we need a new plague. I just got my wish.

"Yes it is."

Have we reached the point of civilization's downfall where I can start carrying a sawed-off shotgun on me at all times? What about a flamethrower? Which one becomes acceptable first?
I have an etiquette question:
Is it ok to low-ball on cars sight unseen when our city is under shelter-in-place restrictions?
I'll probably wait a few more weeks for sellers to get really desperate but still.
There's an E28 BMW that's been decaying in a parking lot near me. It's a manual, but it doesn't have an LSD, or I may have already tried to salvage it.
