I go into work and was presented with a formal write up for a "no show, no call". Apparently I never called out on Wednesday when I was scheaduled to work, funny, I don't recall anybody calling me to see if I could work wednesday.
As an "on call" casual, they call me and ask me if I am available for work and if I can work the hours they are offering. It seems one of my supervisors at this particular property put my name on the scheadule but forgot to call me and see if I was able and willing to work.
It was worth the laugh, but it does remind me how screwed up the system can be for me. The Department only has 9 full time employees and 9 casuals. How hard can it be to write up a scheadule?
What I especially 'like' is when they try to ding me for a no-call no-show without making an attempt to let me know at some point during my allegedly scheduled shift.
Or when they call me at 5AM on my day off asking why I'm not at work, great start to my morning.
Once I got an on-call phone call a month after I quit that job. It was only 10:00 PM, so it wasn't too bad. The security guy that called felt real bad. I laughed for an hour. Felt good knowing quitting that job was the right move.

As the despatcher, as well as a driver, I get those calls from our brokers about 3 days a week, whether I want them or not.... btw is starts to suck really quickly.

One of the few bits of silver lining with their staunch 'not letting Snow move up the ladder despite him being a goddamn stud' policy, I'm not expected to direct - much less supervise - anyone aside from rookie hazing/training type stuff. They set my schedule, I work it (plus a sixth day most weeks)... rinse, repeat, wait and hope for death.
We used to do after hours service for a national company. They tried to call me out on a emergency call in Vermont. I had to explain to the lady three times that I was in South Carolina and her normal tech could get there during business hours before I could, even if I left immediately.
I worked at a company for just shy of 5 years and they tried to fire me while on vacation. I came back after vacation and everybody was wondering what I was doing back. The had fired the HR guy and my signed vacation form was stuck behind his desk when he moved out.
I had a boss that just literally hated me. I found out that he had been asking a certain young lady out for about 3 years before I started working there and she constantly shot him down. I showed up and we were dating within 3 months and stayed together for 6 years.
He was constantly trying to get me fired. He once sent me to get drug tested the day I returned from vacation ( I passed), but it was pointed out that policy was that ALL management was to be drug tested to avoid unfairness and his best friend who was 1 step on the management scale above me failed and was fired. Guess who got his job!?!
Finally after 5 years I was late for the 3rd time! But he had to schedule a Safety meeting for 30 minutes before I was scheduled on the day I returned from vacation. I got my schedule before I left and the safety meeting was posted 5 days before the meeting!
He made it stick too. I was out.

My employer has 5 employees at this location. Only one person can be gone at a time because of the strain it puts on the others and I've had vacations denied or postponed because of this.
Somehow they decided to schedule a week long training and certification program for 3 employees during the same week someone else was on vacation. I spent an entire week as the only person in the building answering all the phone calls and technical questions, entering all the orders, preparing all the orders (we ship chemicals in 55 gallon drums), scheduling trucks, loading freight, and doing the invoices and related paperwork.
After an exhausting week I ended up leaving about a dozen shipped orders on my desk figuring I'd do the invoices first thing on Monday. On Monday morning when everyone was back I got called into my bosses office and presented with a formal write up for poor work performance because those invoices "weren't done in a timely fashion". They also warned me that if it happened again within 12 months I'd be fired.

Homie don't play dat!
Someone would be having a fun time trying to pull my foot out of the crack at the bottom of the back!
You a stronger man than me if you didn't have to get escorted of the property by the police.

It took a lot to walk back to my desk instead of right out the door that day.
There was also a positive outcome from that situation. It motivated me to update my resume and try to advance my career. I've already had some interest.

Wow, late 3 times in 5 years is a fireable offense?
I'm doing well if I'm only late 3 times a week.
He could have fired me at any time, but I could have gone over his head and cited policy and been rehired. He was soon fired for missing 2 days in a row without calling in with an excuse. His second strike was having sex with a cashier in the store.
