Snow! So I took both my miatas and put them on storage insurance. :(
Stuck with the escort wagon and the wrangler.

Two hour south of you and I have to make that same call today.
Night-night to the Miata and e30 into the winter slumber.
Company Car Ford Escape for all driving.
Just got my Miata on Friday. Got the hardtop on Saturday. Snow tires are on, drove in the flurries yesterday
We got a dusting this morning. I need to hurry up and get the Mercedes fixed or put snow tires on the WRX and sell the Merc, even though I bought it for winter.
What's storage insurance? Does that mean you can't drive them anymore? Or do you have them in a storage facility?

Its very cheap insurance that doesn't cover it on the road, but I'm covered if a tree falls on it or its stolen or the garage burns down.
Joey
Weak.
I drive the same winters as you do, and have always driven a Miata for the past 13 winters.
Snow tires, hard top. Done.

Been there! Its not so bad with snow tires, and I would drive it year round if it wasn't for the salt.
Joey
I spent 4 years and 100k miles driving a '97 240sx around Metro Detroit every winter while my Miata and MR2 sat in the garage. Never had any trouble. On all seasons, not winter tires.

Why? my motorcycle is still road legal and I get more snow than you
Its not the snow! I love driving in snow. I beg to get called in to work when the other drivers get there pizza car stuck. Its the salt that I have a problem with!

Get a horse!
I saw what salt did to the first tub of his Miata. He did not puss out and sell it and buy a nice new car. Nope, he removed all the rust and replaced it with nice steel. Of course he needed to remove the entire car and put it in a new body.
Joel is right.
Dwayne is right. I. HATE. RUST. But I love driving in the snow. That's why the Escort with snow tires on the front and all seasons on the back is so fun. Big slides at will! (Only on a closed course, of course)
Joey
The turbo Miata went into the garage a few weeks ago - my winter beater is an E36 M3. Every time I start daydreaming too much about a new car, my wife reminds me that I've got it pretty good already... then I remind her that both of my cars together cost us 2/3 of what hers did

Rules are rules, we are supposed to make fun of you.
And I've gone through a new front end paint job and new windshield due to the salt. I still drive it every single day. Well, unless I have a company car.
These are ok for rust. At least mine is, with almost 180k miles year round.
Whimp.
Eric
I need to get the non-turbo RX-7 into storage soon. I'm having trouble selling it and I can't keep it in the driveway because it forces another car out into the street. Our town requires all cars park in their driveways during the winter or they will be towed. The turbo can stay, though, so I can get it running right. Snow tires are already mounted on the Speed3.

1990 and 1992(ish) Not as good rust protection as your NB...
Joey
Well, I'm driving mine ('99 NB) through its 12th winter and it's showing some rust in the usual spots on the rockers, BUT the replacement panels are only 85 bucks each, so bring on the snow. The Blizzaks went on yesterday.

It's on the shirt for crying out loud...
Joey, you ARE a whimp!

Rules are rules- and as dwane says, it's on a t-shirt read by by literaly teens of people.
Therefore, your argument is moot. You are weak, and that is a pathetic excuse for not driving a Miata during the winter.
I can't think of a pathetic excuse for not driving my NC in the winter...I just don't want to do it. I'm getting wimpy in my old age. Years ago, I used an MK1 MR2 as my daily and drove it in deep snow (sideways most of the time...)
I just went on CL, found a '94 Geo Prizm for $400, put $200 into it and now I've got my snow vehicle. Don't care if it gets salty, gets dinged, dented, rusts more than it already is, whatever. When spring comes, I'll either keep the Geo to just beat on, or sell it for $500. I'll take the Miata out when the roads are not salt and rock covered, but otherwise, it sits in the garage.
