Move to Michigan, have lights and a wiper and it'll be legal.
You don't need the wiper in Ohio if you don't have a windshield.
Actually I don't think you need wipers at all. Just lighting, and quiet enough that you don't get pulled over for noise.
Having seen an atom yesterday pulled under an overpass for a rain shower the all terrain tires on the nomad make me giggle.
Man....If I was still in the west with all of that open land I would be rocking that. A real car instead of a side by side toy.
I had been thinking about building something along these lines - more like a scaled-down Class 1 buggy. But with the advent of the long-travel suspension parts for the Miata and the Exocet, I'm gonna save myself some welding time and just go that way. Like bmw88rider said, a real car I can drive to the trails.
What's available in a long travel suspension for a Miata? The PACO lift kits don't increase travel, just height. I've been thinking about methods to make my NB back road friendly, so this is of interest to me.
I always wanted to build something like this. I don't know how, but I always wanted to. This just screams "Abuse me in the dirt", and who can deny that request?
Deep and dirty.
Did a job yesterday and my customer's daughter had a WRX done up like that. Same Team Dynamics wheels, same tires, and a roof rack with a spare strapped in just like that Nomad has. She was a real gear head and had a huge Hot Wheels collection. She also had reptiles, horses, and a giant fish tank full of catfish.

There is a long travel option coming from Paco. The prototype was at the Mitty. Something like 12" and 14" of wheel travel, long arms, all sorts of goofiness. It won't be a $200 kit (sorry rallycrossers) but it will let you build a Nomad alternative for about 25% of the cost.
