Are you getting the OTC stuff or the "OTC-behind-the-counter" stuff? I've discovered anything on the consumer shelves to be nearly worthless.
I used to have annually-recurring sinusitis, which has recently migrated to annually-recurring tonsilitis. Not cool.
But, I never got much relief for anything until I started taking Zyrtec (generic, of course) on a Dr/friend's recommendation. Zyrtec rocks pretty hard.
Yeah, I'm also in the "pills make me feel worse than just feeling bad in the first place" camp.
Mostly I just take some herbal stuff; I've never found western medicine to be worth a damn when it comes to prevention.
Dosing on local wildflower honey (the super-hippy uncooked/non-pasteurized stuff) before the season starts works like a low-tech allergy shot.
