Would you drive a fiberglass 550 next to a Semi? I think we were going 90 and I saw the car move in the wind. Scared me!

My co-worker's 914-6 in the background. It's a fun car, but it's no 904!

In order to race in a certain class with his spyder replicas, Chuck had to use a 4 cylinder, so he built a bespoke 4 cylinder. Can anyone tell me what he used?

Do YOU have a 962 engine in your garage? Chuck does. Under the tarp is a 997 GT3RS engine and a 993 Turbo engine. All three are destined for 904s...

His shop is in such a serene area! No noise at all, the middle of nowhere!

The man himself! Got to see some parts coming out of the molds. They are very well done! If you have a spare 60K, buy one of these, fly in and drive it home, but be sure to ask Chuck to tell you some stories first. He has hundreds of them.

Nice! Chuck is always a nice guy to chat with at the track. Looks like he's got some seriously sweet projects in the works.

Yeah, he is building himself an aluminum chassis 904 to put the watercooled RS motor in. Aiming for 1400 pounds and 415 horsepower at 8500 RPM!

I fully support this level of lunacy.

I always see the 904's at the track, always cleaning up my drool off the side...

Chuck will be at the Mitty again this year with the 904 and I believe a 550 replica. If you get a chance stop by and talk with him, he has a million awesome stories!

The 904s are beautiful cars that can harass extremely fast machinery on track!

It was one of the coolest days I have spent in a while. Georgia Tech car show, then messing around with fast cars. Fun stuff!

They ARE cool. Chuck's wife drives one occasionally that has a 150 horsepower Type 1. The car only weighs 1300 pounds dripping wet. Quick, loud, visceral, and sexy! The Spyders are going back into production around the end of the year at only 30K turn key. Considering that 30K won't even get you a new pickup truck, it's a hell of a car for the money!

Not that I would turn down a 904 but I would love to DD a 550 in the warmer months. It would make the commute so much more fun.

HHeeeeyyyyy...I've run a few local autoxes with him! On year he rolls up with the 904 on a trailer and a spyder on the BED OF THE PICKUP so the nose touches the rear window of the truck. Backs the 904 off, throws down ramps from truck to trailer, backs the spyder down and runs it too.

Un. berkeleying. Believable.

Gorgeous cars, and the sound......

I would DD a 550 in the colder months as well. It doesn't get that cold down here though, and with a good tonneau, you would be just fine.

So, since nobody is guessing, I will just tell you.

In order to comply with a vintage racing class in his Spyders, he had to have a four cylinder engine. Chuck decided that he would make his own. Taking the center cylinders out of an 80's Carrera 3.2 to create a 2.13 liter four. Custom machined crank and cams, and a custom oil pump shaft.

This one has been "warmed over" to produce a bit over 200 at the wheels.

By the way, there is a Lamborghini V-12 to the left of it, and a Maser V6 behind it. The 6 was destined to provide power to a motorcycle before his heart attack...since then, he sticks to 4 wheeled cars.

He also told me that pre heart attack, he was working on a 16.5 foot wingspan experimental aircraft powered by a 917-10 Flat 12 turbo...
