I'm not usually a fan of chocolate in beer but it was done really well.

I'm not sure Kriek and Quadruple Ale is but I liked it here

Ok. I have a question and I don't want to sift through 7 pages of posts. I live in the PNW, aka microbrew capital. Deschutes brewery is like 20mi from the house. 
 

I hate IPAs. Can't stand em. My buddy is always bringing them over, I try one swig and usually barf. 
 

so I am looking for a type of beer that is smooth. Not bitter. Not cut with some random fruit or chocolate or peanut butter. And light. Not heavy. A good summer bbq beer. Oh, and not "piss water". I actually like PBR. Not bud though. To date, the only one my wife and I like that is in this category is the 3 Creeks blonde bombshell, and Cascade lakes Knotty blonde.

I find pub beer has a sourness to it. 

Guinness and Murphy's are actually light and extremely smooth. Takes one or two to realize you're not chewing it, the foam is just kinda thick because it's a nitro beer. 
 

After that, start looking for lagers, pilsners, and Kolsches, and try to keep it under 5% alcohol. Alcohol level isn't a hard and fast rule, just a general guideline that I've found. I generally prefer Polish beers, Okocim and Zywiec specifically. 

Fresher will be better. Where are you located?

In what sense of "light"? That leaves a bunch of things open.

Deschutes Black Butte porter is good. Not sure if it would qualify as "light" for you or not. It's a porter and nice and roasty, but I don't find it overly roasty or heavy. I can drink them all afternoon at a summer barbeque. Deschutes Red Chair is criminally underrated. It may or may not be your thing. It is a nice Pale Ale in the vein of Sierra Nevada (but better). I find it hop forward, but balanced. That may or may not be your thing.

McMenamin's Ruby is soooooo good.

I'd look for good craft Pilsners. Sierra Nevada Summerfest is great. Might like Firestone Pivo Pils (or it might be too hoppy).

Firestone DBA is great.

I prefer my American pilsners full strength and with corn instead of rice. Coors Banquet is surprisingly good. As mentioned, Murphy's or Guinness are great and I usually keep a couple on hand in my fridge. Love one of those after a workout.

Northcoast Scrimshaw. All day every day. Done and done.

(Seriously, this was the *first* beer to disappear from piles of employee low-fills at Northcoast, even though it was the most bottled. *None* survived for second shift.)

Here is another one I bet you'd enjoy: Kronenbourg 1664. It's a light, tasty, and at worst, inoffensive beer. French Lager. Bonus points if you can find it fresh, and in anything more than a 6 pack - with a green bottle and being an unpopular/unknown beer in the states, it's somewhat frequently skunked. 
 

I've never met anyone who had it and disliked it, though I find it overpriced, it is definitely good. My FIL said "well they had 400 years to work the kinks out"
