As someone who is the CEO of a large corporation and often travels with security (i am not and do not) I can tell you that it's a fanny pack.

If you were reviled by a large portion of the population and worth in excess of a billion dollars wouldn't you have security somewhat more effective than a mall cop toting a radio? I have no problem with bodyguards carrying bodyguardy equipment. It would be ridiculous to expect anything else.

Actually, in most states just ordinary Joe Schmo can own a machine gun with the proper paperwork hoops and starting around $3-4k.
Some H&K MP5's are old enough(pre-86)

Maybe the majors? I know or have met the CEO's of a half dozen small and mid sized oil companies and they drive their cars to work just like the next guy. There's more firepower in your average 7-11 than at most oil companies.
A couple of the CEO's of large corporations that I know have told me that the insurance companies won't even let all of the board members fly on the same airplane.
I'm sure these guys have security with them.

this is entirely true. Our CEO, at old company, and one deputy got the private plane. The Big deputy got a another private plane. The rest had to fly on various commercial flights anywhere. No more than two-three per plane. An old neighbor of mine was a corporate pilot.
