Uh...we need more of your backstory. Cause that sounds awesome.
In reply to Appleseed :
Everyone has a walk up to bat and a walk to the ring song.
Mine is the opening riff to Slayer's Black Magic, and that Fear Factory song they used for Carmageddon.

I want him to stand consipicuously in the back of the room and at the tail end of the viewing I want him to walk up to the casket, cell phone to his ear, look at me for 10 seconds, closely. Then say into the phone as he's walking away from the casket "yup. He's really dead this time". Then he disappears.
Can I volunteer to be the man in black?
Absolutely! It'll be magnificent.
My father has always said play another one bites the dust and tell my mother the funeral starts an hour earlier than it really does so she will be there on time!
I'm not sure. My approach to any of this is "I'm dead, IDGAF."
OTOH, it would depend on what they do with me.
Spread my ashes off the Keys, Margaritaville.
Serious funeral moment, Les Mis Finale.
In reply to M2Pilot :
Doesn't surprise me. My sister was born in England and my dad was an English citizen until a few years ago.

Ok if you can give me a heads up so I can put in for vacation.
One of These Days (... I'm going to cut you into tiny pieces)
Just to freak everyone out.
Maybe Time, if I want to be a bit more civilized.
Once this thread settles down, I'm going to summarize the songs, "Plus 1" counts, etc. so we'll have an official GRM funeral play list in descending order of popularity.
Just a thought: Perhaps the OP could ask the mods to change the thread title to something that's easily searchable like "Funeral Play List" or whatever.

Amazing Grace
I'd go with another hymn, "What Wonderous Love Is This," for its last verse:
And when from death I'm free, I'll sing on, I'll sing on
And when from death I'm free, I'll sing on
And when from death I'm free, I'll sing and joyful be
And through eternity, I'll sing on, I'll sing on.
But as others have noted, the funerals are for the living. If I write out funeral instructions, it is going to start with, "You're probably worried the funeral may not go correctly. I want you to know that my idea of a successful funeral is one where you have buried the correct corpse in the correct grave with the correct tombstone - that's really all I can expect. If everyone walks out of the funeral with all their emotional issues resolved before the end of the day, I'm going to have to wonder what sort of a bastard I was in life."

I shouldn't know this but... there are 3 FF Carmageddon songs.
It's not morbid. If you're not making plans, you're leaving work for others. I'll donate any organs they can use, then ask them to ship the rest off for explosive testing or crash testing or medical student dissection or whatever.
As for music I've no preference. Whatever helps those left behind: the funeral is for them, not me, and anything that can be done to ease the burden on them will be best.
"March of the Wooden Soldiers "
Stardust by Hoagy Charmichael (sp_ My favorite teenage song, still like it.
Ride of the Valkyrie
not to poach my own thread, but what if we did a scavenger hunt based on Hive funerals? You have to attend to get a clue, which is based on the song played? Given the clue, you go to the next funeral and then get another clue?
Nah....
You'll need to log in to post.
