My son lives in ATL and is getting married. I'm his best man (which I am really proud of).
I'm trying to think of something kind of cool and unique for a bachelor's party. Forget the strippers and drunken bachanal- not his type of stuff.
I considered renting a cabin for an overnight with ATV rentals on a large plantation, but the cost is too rich for our blood.
It will be a small group who like to do physical activities and are OK with an occasional drink, but not party animals. Several of them are into extreme sports, but some of us probably can't keep up with them. There will also be a few younger (10-13 y.o.) guys involved.
Any good thoughts in the ATL area? I'm not from there, so I'm running out of ideas.
Good karting tracks? Cabin on a lake with jet skis? Other ideas?
Thanks for the help.
Oh- and none of you are invited!

Andretti Karting is fun, but pricey.

Forget the price, do this. I did for my bachelor party and it was awesome. Make sure to reserve track time in advance for the group, it gets busy sometimes.

Approximate price?
Pricey is a relative term.
Tons of outdoor stuff to do up here in Blue Ridge. There are some pretty pimpy rentals with video games, pool tables, etc. Plenty of fancy places on the lake. There's also no shortage of $100 a night "place to crash" type cabins if you're just going to be doing outdoor stuff all day anyway. Hiking, biking, whitewhater rafting/kayaking, jetskis on the lake, etc., etc., etc.

We have a cool downtown "Mayberry" ish area (where my shop is) and a freaking awesome Drive-In Movie Theatre, good restaurants, etc.

You still have a Drive-In? (jealous!)
Isn't there a hiking trail that goes up Stone Mountain? OTOH, you could probably rent that cabin for what it costs to park there these days.

They do rafting on the Toccoa, don't they?
There are several good lakes to rent jet skis or go water skiing on. Tons of gun ranges too, if you guys are into firepower. A cheaper outdoor activity would to be to rent kayaks or canoes and paddle down the Chattahoochee. I've had killer times hiking the Toccoa Gorge and down Cloudland Canyon, but they're both a ways north of town.
Paintball? We played somewhere near Athens when I was in school. Back then, it was like $20/person.

Yup!!! And the Ocoee and Nantahala. I think the Ocoee is the one you want. I've never done it. Funyaking on the Nantahala is rad though.
You really want to take a bunch of guys down a river in Georgia?

In reply to poopshovel:
I've done the Ocoee. Very cool.

I keep threatening to make the bumper sticker, but apparently I'm the only one who thinks it's funny.
Congratulations to your son!
The crew at work went cliff diving at Lake Lanier last week (among other things - we also towed a tube and wakeboard and some other things behind a speedboat). I can see if I can find directions to the cliff we used if you're interested.
Congratulations from me as well! Know nothing (well, nothing moral
) about the Atlanta area so can't contribute ideas.
