I haven't seen the movie Australia, but in the early '80s when there were new Australian movies every week at my local movie theatre, I went and enjoyed.

If you haven't seen any of them, well, from what I understand Australia the movie is a poor pastiche of several AMERICAN films...but shot in Australia.

I tried to watch this movie with my girlfriend. I think even she got bored. We turned it off and she finished watching it later.

And a little-remembered part of history (outside of Oz, of course) about Darwin getting bombed by the Japanese on a regular basis...
