Always, always, always smile and acknowledge the creepy quiet guy. If he collects something innocuous, such as pencils, or charms, or troll dolls, be sure to bring him one on occasion. Just in case. Best life insurance policy ever.
One guy I knew had a really nutty roomate. He was one of those syrupy sweet guys who at the age of 19 listened to "soft/lite rock" nonstop. I mean the guy was crazy, but harmless.
His niceness drove his roomate so crazy that one day, he put tacks in the nice kids shoes. Expulsion ensued.
