Thank ya. Getting ready to go back to the hospital. Waiting to hear if his white blood cell count has begun to go up. He's eating good.

Congrats! I think the Tacoma should work very well. I wish I had one many times.

Congrats!!! Just be sure not to short the poor kid every year on gifts just because his b-day and Christmas are at hte same time.

Why not a minivan with a good set of snow tires? More practicality than any SUV, better fuel mileage and will get you through any snow. Even on regular all season tires, our Sedona does great in several inches of snow.

Congrats! I'd stick with the Tacoma for a while and see how it works out. We over-thought how children would impact our vehicle purchases and purchased an '06 Rav4 as our child hauler. Fast forward a few years and three children, and we ended up with a minivan, too! I'd say keep what you have until you absolutely need to get something else. Rear-facing seats are only for the first two years, and car seats fit much better when they're forward-facing.

we just found out #2 is on the way. i'm glad i bought a crew cab work truck instead of an extended cab. 1 in the middle of ex cab is ok, 2 won't work.

we have 2 graco seats that go from 5-65 pounds. there is no way my kid is going to fit this seat at 65 pounds, but they are nice otherwise, and way lighter than my brother in law's "i must have the most expensive everything and this car seat is nuclear bomb proof" seat that he puts his kids in. ours were about $175 each at babies is us/target, and both were shower gifts. #1 is 3 in april and almost ready for a booster seat, which puts the 2 little guy seats available when #2 shows up.

i hear one of the biggest problems is assuming your kid is ready for a booster too early. keep them in the big clunky seat as long as you can. i used a booster with him once at 25# in an emergency for a few miles and he did fine, but i'm glad i did not have to see what happens in an accident with a slightly underweight kid in a booster.

my top tip for baby hauling - use the baby as a reason to talk the wife into letting you buy something huge and LS swapping it. that's what i did.
