Backyard build. DECK/CONCRETE/POOL

Bench progress is slow. 
here is my design idea and what i want to achieve 

I don't know how to yet make the wood sitting area in a way where the things that will connect to concrete will be invisible. I want it to look floating

Looks like they used steel. 1/2" plate, maybe triangulated in a bit. See it by the flame?   Having the seating area be a 90 degree should help.

Yes mine is 90degrees. I do see it by the flame. I will look for some steel plates after I finish it 

I'd think something like a bracket for floating shelves would work.

Love the work! Its coming along nicely. 

Have you ever seen how Ikea shelves attach? Might be a good option to mount the bench wood without seeing the brackets.

we have one 30 miles away. Never been 

yeah I would like the wood on the bench to be "floating"

I wasn't thinking a one piece wood. I was thinking 4-5 slats. 

No need to go to Ikea. You can buy those brackets online. 

I just searched for "hidden shelf brackets" on google and a bunch came up. You would just need to make sure that they are sturdy enough.

I am not married to slats 

they just looked good in the pic I linked which is what I was using to make the bench. 
 

I can do one piece too, if that will look good 

Friend dropped off the turf. 
 

90-100 face weight. 2.5 inches tall. I need about 1100 sq feet. 
 

neat project!  I'm also half-considering a DIY Backyard remodel, albeit with much less concrete.  Hoping to pick up a few tricks and tips, carry on!

thank you. Hired 3 day laborers today to take pool plaster off. Costing me $500 for 3  labor. 
 

4 jackhammers (including me) 

Pool is done. Wow at the speed of these guys. The hired help, helped. I did 5%, they did 95% 

Half day yesterday and half day to get it ready 

Something like this, only I would bore through from the back of the wall so that the brick became part of the lever keeping my ass of the ground. Bolts are not really designed to take loads in the shown configuration.

Looks good, but you will need to brace the steps with something bigger than the 1x2. Go for a 2x4 kicked into a stake if it's not nice solid ground and put stakes in the other side as well. The end goal is zero movement at all and you should be able to stand on them without moving them at all.

Are you gonna wetstrip and face the steps? Did you give each step some fall? You also want to be able to get either a float or a trowel underneath the 2x6 for the risers when you finish it.

Also, can you take an pic of the other side of the steps? The top step looks like it might be a bit hard to strip.

the side steps and side is for me only. No one ever uses it and won't. Trying it here first to see if I can do it 

 

It's hard to tell but the forms might be a bit close to the side. You won't be able to move the forms forward any, because of concrete obviously, so you want to leave yourself some wiggle room so you can strip off the forms. Otherwise you can damage the concrete removing the forms.
