:35 is where the fun begins. Going to tag it with a NSFW due to some swearing at the end

Ouch. VIR?

(the comments are mostly too annoying to read through to see if the location was posted...)

In reply to Ian F:

Summit Point, a track notorious for Bambi dodging. It's not unique to that place as I've witnessed several (successful) deer crossings at Road Atlanta events. One time, four of the vermin jumped the fence on the back straight to get to the infield. It was bad because they did it one-at-a-time with a buck riding caboose; at least there were no cars on the track when it happened.

I'm sure its' pretty common elsewhere because of territorial encroachment and expanding deer populations.

not VIR …

interwebz says Scranton, Pennsylvania (googled "road race tracks … Pennsylvania") couldn't tell which was in the Scranton area since I don't know my Pa geography very well …. seems I had heard that it was Beaver Run, but that's only an old mans memory

Oldsaw has it. That is summit point's main track. The fauna are a common occurrence there. Deer, woodchuck, feral cats, rabbits, snakes. If it lives in the woods of WV it has died on the track.

Would insurance cover a deer if it happened on a track I wonder? I'd bet not if they knew

I'm guessing that's an interesting insurance claim. I hope the dude is rich, and not someone who saved his whole life for a 911, has the first one totaled, then totals the 2nd one through no fault of his own.

Poor guy. Did the right thing though- braked straight ahead and called it.

A friend of mine was at that track day sharing a paddock with that guy. Apparently that was the second deer strike of the day.

Wait, you mean that is not what they mean when they say to avoid the red mist at a track day?
