Anybody else a member of Bally's Total Fitness? I've been a member for a long time, actually prior to their ownership of my local gym.

It's renewal time. For the past four years, my annual renewal fees have been $99, $68, $89 and $89. They just sent me a renewal notice for $190 for a single year. I called customer service, eventually spoke to a human being and was offered a renewal for "$139, Right now. If you hang up, it goes away". I hung up.

I'm curious what others are paying.

Not at Ballys but a localy owened gym. Month to month for $30.00. no initiation nor anual fee. Been here a while? $25.00 sound O.K? Clean up after yourself and we wont have to raise rates to hire someone to clean up after you.

planet fitness http://www.planetfitness.com/

and

http://www.retrofitness.net

I have no monthly fee, just the annual renewal.

Place looks like a douchefest. And a movie-theather with cardio equipment? Do people actually think they're getting work done in there?

I like planet fitness better and have never been in a retro fitness. I merely included it as an example.

Hmmm, I may have to check out Planet Fitness - a local independent club just went under and is being converted to a Planet Fitness. I just sold my cycling trainer since it was just collecting dust in the basement and I'd like to start a light workout regime to help my bad shoulders and lose a couple pounds. Locally it looks like $20/month or $30 annually plus $10/month.

We don't all live in rich white person town, though

I pay $10/mo no contract. It's by far the best deal around here.

I was at bally's but my local one was getting grungy and dirty. I found the local community college gym was open to the public and it is very, very nice. A bit more expensive, but no contract and all the machines work and are clean. The facility is top notch.

We have LA Fitness near us, and aside from the occasional shooting, they get good reviews.
