yes its true, i hit the end of the year swap meets looking for close out deals on sweat shirts and such.. i figure if i get 8 or 10 of them at a rock bottom price i dont care if they get trashed crawling around under the plow truck and what not.. usually i hit up thompson and stafford springs in CT.. and occasoinally lee usa speedway.. usually its track stuff that can be had for the best bargian prices. at thompson one year if you bought one sweatshirt you would get 2 t shirts free.. and i havent paid more than 5 bucks for a hoodie sweatshirt yet.

nothing wrong with that. tho i dont go to swap meets place i do most of my clothes shopping its not uncommon for me to spend 2 dollars on a tshirt.
My wife does the same for me, I usually get a pile of nice thick cotton Nascar t-shirts every Christmas.

99% of my clothing over the last five years has come from either charity shops (Goodwill), Indonesian night markets, or surplus/liquidation places that get lots from upscale stores. I don't dress slobbily at all and most of the stuff I buy "used" is actually brand new. I'm often wearing better clothes than my friends who spend five times as much at conventional retailers.
I really can't understand how others routinely plunk down $80 on a shirt or $60 on a pair of jeans. I could eat for a month on that money.
Yup usually fleece jackets with napoleon pockets
I like goodwill. About 25c a shirt.

^^ Your Goodwill is better than our Goodwill! Basic tees are $6 each up here! Jeans are $9.
Goodwill near me is 1.50-2 for a t-shirt, but I have enough of those, I clean up on dress shoes and dress clothes.
My best find has been a 10 pair of Johnston and Murphy, in great condition worth about 180, a pair of Allen Edmonds for 3.50 that I want to get reconditioned. That pair will cost me anywhere from 55-130 after all is said and done for a dress shoe that cost 300+ and will last forever if maintained. I purchase any blazer/sport coat that fits me perfectly and wear it out casually in Philadelphia when it isn't a billion degrees like this past summer, ladies love it.
Dress shirts I am experimenting with, checking on what it costs to get them fully tailored after dropping a whopping 3-4 dollars on a 45-100 dollar shirt.
I love Goodwill/Thrift stores. If I need something immediately, I hit up the TJ Maxx/Marshalls/Ross Dress for Less of the world, this is how I get my topsiders, I will where Sperry shoes in any situation, they are comfortable and durable.
The only downside is that if you need to shop for tall sizes, youre SOL. Or if youre a guy, and you wear a 36 or 38" waist, youre never finding pants.
I did have some good luck a few years back...I was working in a warehouse and got certified to drive a forklift. Got me a dollar an hour raise, but you had to wear steel toe boots on your own dime (why the drivers had to wear steel toe boots is beyond me...if youre able to run over your own toes driving a lift, then youre doing it wrong). Every boot place wanted a C note or more. On a hunch I went to Gabriel Brothers (discount/leftover clothing store), and found leather Hytest steel toe boots for $6...
I almost never have that kinda luck. I still have them years later, and wear them whenever Im doing serious manual labor.

Send it in to their factory. It is worth it. I am wearing a pair of my Grandpa's old AE's that he just gave me, they must be 40 years old. Easily the best looking shoe in the office.
I've seen Hart Shaffer Marx at our goodwill store. Didn't fit, but top notch quality.
I get a lot of clothes from TJ Maxx. Not Goodwill cheap but a lot cheaper then a lot of places.

I am tall and big, so I am berked. I really would like to be able to buy some cheap ass clothes. I wear polos and khaki shorts 99% of the time unless working on cars but I don't care what is on them as long as they fit. I hadn't seen a 38 waist since I was in the military.

If I find a size that will fit me there, it looks like I should be in a rap video.

We have a JanSport outlet store in front of the factory here in town. Nothing like getting new but slightly imperfect sweatshirts, sweatpants, tshirts, and what-else for next to nothing. Last time I went, 5 Vans tshirts for $10.

Yeah a lot of stuff there is like that... But I can usually find Levi's for a decent price.
