I can't wait! I've been jonesin' for some Battle bots for, what, 16 years? My son and I are psyched.

I always thought that all parts had to began the match as one bit, seems like they waved that? Perhaps they did it to liven up the action since toward the end of the original series wedges took over.
Seems to me if you have three controllers you have three robots regardless of where they started. In guess I'm a purist.
I didn't see any of the "mini" bots used effectively so they seem to be fairly weak and distractors at best.
I believe properly managed, battle bots could be as big as the NFL or Nascar. I'd like to see weight classes. Robots the size of a small car wailing on each other could be awesome. Again - just like Nascar.

The combots tourney is actually setup up with several weight classes but the heavys are the only ones they're showing on TV. Unfortunately in the past there were lawsuits etc. over who controlled the rights to the sport. Even after the original battlebots ended the events went on in the same warehouse in SF they always had.
The minibots are new vs. the 90s version of the show, and I don't remember them allowing fire in the past, either. All in all, some good carnage in the first episode. I'll watch again.
I haven't watched it yet, but I agree that if it takes 3 people to control it, it needs to be in a class with like bots. I'd love to see this grow into a full-fledged sport. I can't imagine a better commentator then Grant Imahara (sp?).
