This show is addictive. Now I want to build one.
Freekin great. Guy puts an 18 hp two stroke motor on top of his bot spinning 1/4 inch thick by about 4 inches wide that is about 4 feet long steel blade at some crazy speed. Basically exploded the other robot in to pieces. It was great!!

I was watching that plus Drone Racing League championships at the same time.
It's a fun show to watch, even with all the blather and so little action. Such fun watching mechanical carnage.
I just checked, ABC cancelled it. I guess they decided that a popular show with a growing fan base, one that has actually been around for 10-20 years wasn't good enough. I'm sure they'll put another show about strangers getting married and voting someone out of a house or off an island will suffice for the ignorant masses.
I hope someone picks it up and carries the torch.

Combine it with the valve cover races.

Given the signs in the stands, it's likely what we are watching is a reply of some of ABC's shows.
But it's on the right channel- Science. I expect they will keep it- I was more willing to watch on Science than ABC- for some reason.

It's funny, I was very surprised that ABC even picked it up. Seems too intellectual for network television. I wonder how the ratings were, I don't know why else they would dump it.
I agree, I'd rather watch it on the science channel. Just seems fitting.
It's the screwed up reality show format they use that turns me off.
It's like watching a Novella.
Meh...
Loved it when one of the little secondary bots was absolutely obliterated in a huge fire ball. Nothing left but scrap metal bits and the top shell.

This Battlebot builder lives near us. I once saw him the driveway doing some test driving.
The controllers for battlebots are modified Vex Roboticscontollers.
Vex is an awesome company teaching kids robotics starting in Grade school. My middle sons team made it to the worlds competition. competed against 160 teams from 30+ countries.

I am pretty sure Schrederator got tossed into the screws by one of the up and coming bits (very well driven). Spin bots a pretty much a no win these days. The blade and drum bots are the best bet for destruction it seems.
Yes, I am reviving a 2 year old thread. But there is a new season of Battlebots on Discovery.
Fun to see people’s creation beat each other up like this.
Still some interesting designs being tried, but the drum spinners seem to still be the popular design.

The design I can’t understand is saw blade ones. Takes so much time to cut that it does not make sense to me.

Either bash it to death vertical, or bash it to death with a bar. In the 3 seasons completed so far, a bar spinner has won once, and a drum spinner and some EXCELLENT driving has won the other two times. I love some of the alternative designs, but yeah. Bash as quick as yoyu can. Shred the other guy.
I don’t understand the saws either, very little chance to do any damage. One does pretty good (Sawblaze) but that’s from its plow and driving, not the saw. The hammers also seem to have almost no change of doing any damage.
Good drivers are still a huge advantage. I have to say I am a bit of a fan of Duck, just pure simple reliability.
I do love the counter measure adjustments against different opponents/ weapons.
