Okay, so its not real broke, its college broke. But still, I just gave a $3000 check to the school, have $42.73 that I can use in my bank accounts, ten dollars in my pocket, and in the kitchen I have 5 beers, 3 mountain dews, some celery, a frozen pizza, and a bunch of cheese. If I don't get some games to ref soon, I won't be able to go autocross in two weeks. I might have to sell some stock, which I don't like the idea of.
Time to go play guitar to cheer myself up

My strings feel like they are about to break too. Time to work on my fingerpicking.
Any kind of broke sucks. Just finished vacation, bought the daughter a car and moved her to the other side of the state for college. Needless to say all non necessary spending is suspended until further notice at the Toy House.
I had $300 in my bank account in Jan, now it's nearing 10k, boy am I a lot happier.
At least you have some food and a guitar. When I had my first apartment I eventually sold both guitars, my only amp, and all my effects to pay bills. Only items in the fridge sometimes were ketchup, mustard, hot sauce and Kool-Aid. I used to joke that I had no food but if some showed up I had stuff to put on it.
Hope things pick up for you. Broke is never fun.

if you can play well on 6 strings, imagine how easy it will be on only 5, or 4 even

Sounds like a good start to a country music song. When you make your millions send me 10%.

A friend of mine knows that. He (and his wife) just finished putting their daughter through 4 years of RIT. While they had been saving for years for it, the monthly payment they mentioned was still staggering. He rewarded himself recently by buying a (used) Volvo C30 and they are strongly considering a Volt for the wife when it's released.
We are "fresh out of college broke". It doesn't get much easier on the outside...
Hey count your blessings
You got 5 beers might be enough to get a chic in the mood

+1 on counting your blessings, i still have no automobile! im trying to save up for one, until then i only get to drive my girlfriend's autotragic eclipse. counting my blessings though, she is the most amazing girl in the world and i love her. rambling done.
We're about $100 short of bills in the bank account. Just sold some parts and my Nissan truck. Still $100 short. My brother in law just left for college, like an hour ago. He's been living with us all summer, so we've tried to make things good for him during his last summer of freedom.
I'm gonna list the truck's leftovers on CL and maybe one of my bicycles. No use for the truck parts, and the bike never actually fit me really well.
I do think it's funny that my wife complains about my hobbies being expensive, but she never complains when they make me money.
I hear you on the college expense. My savings account was slowly getting built back up after dwindling during a stretch of unemployment, and bam - UGA wants another $5k.
broke does suck.. I am hoping I do not get layed off again this winter. I would like to keep my savings for more than 4 months
I have all the money I'll ever need...as long as I die by 4 PM tomorrow.
File me under the "recently out of college broke" tab. It really sucks. Barely enough money to keep the daily driver appliance car running, let alone a fun car
My roommate tells me she is BROKE and can't contribute anything to rent/bills, while standing there with a 12 pack and a carton of cigs she just walked to the local 7-11 to buy.

I'm counting my blessings, don't worry. Just a major reality check when I wanted to buy a guitar I saw on craigslist. It happens every time I go back to school--I earn 100, in cash, every day in the summer as a caddy. I don't spend hardly any of it, but when I want something, I can almost always get it. At school? Its all gone.

Wow. I'd confiscate all of it until she pays you. But thats just me.
Broke is way more painful after you get used to being flush with cash. It takes some getting used to. Good luck with school. Study hard and maybe you won't have time for Craigslist.

If you make the right choices regarding a degree and location that can go away fairly quickly.
Or are lucky enough to graduate into an economy that isn't FUBAR...the only people who can prosper in this economy are governed by the ATF...

You're not kidding! Nineteen years in a union newspaper job... I'm still trying to get used to freelance money a year after being laid off. The biggest problem is waiting for the money... the bigger the company, the later they are it seems.
