Is great, but 'Nevermind' still reigns supreme for the 90's. Few albums had as big of a splash or anywhere near the lasting impact of Nevermind. I'd say 'Ten' probably also edges out BSSM.
Tough to compare, but you also have 'The Chronic' and 'Enter the Wu Tang' in there as well with totally different styles.
I came to say "The Chronic" and it's already been mentioned. It launched careers of people who were contributors on it, it poured gasoline on a fire to destroy a record label and launched 2 separate labels as a direct result and it set up it's creator to be able to sit back and not have to release another album until 2001.
I strongly recommend adding it to your collection, or you'll have no clue, we he and his homie snoop came to do.

Lil Asa did indeed enjoy some BSSM, but I haven't been able to return to it in a while. I don't feel it aged well.

I'd probably go with Johnny Cash - American Recordings. I didn't appreciate it at the time, but it completely renewed his career and gave us his follow up albums American II through American IV which I truly appreciated during my first deployment in the early '00s
John Hiatt, Crossing Muddy Waters... assuming that it was a 90s album, it might have been 2000.
If it wasn't, Johnny Cash gets the win. Johnny Cash+Rick Rubin trumps just about everything else.
Its impact and influence wasn't as great as some of the others mentioned here, but Pumpkins' Siamese Dream is a fantastic album start to finish.
I maintain my pic but the Traveling Wilburys probably just missed it.

This is a very difficult question, because there was no good music, at all, in the 90s.

It's hard to compare early 90's to late 90's, but I don't think any record of that decade had quite the impact of Nevermind.

This is true. Very hard to appreciate MM without considering LET. But in the end I feel like MM just does it all +
Are we asking for biggest impact or most influential, or just the best? Because those are different questions. If we are looking at just the first options, we'd have to include Nsync or Backstreet Boys, and nobody wants to do that.
Another option for best: Tom Petty Wildflowes... and Full Moon Fever, which came out a year too early.

I generally think music started a downward trend in the 90's following a very brief upturn after hair-metal started fading out. However, Seal's 1994 album is one that still stands out to me to this day.

If this were a Canadian discussion it would be The Hip with Fully Completely from 1992.
But it's not and there have been many great albums noted above.
