The cone is my marker,
I shall turn in.
It makes me to trail brake and rotate.
It leads me to the apex
It shows my track out
It leads me along the racing line
For the time clock sake.
Even though I approach the limits of adhesion
I fear no spin
For it is with me.
The R-compounds and alloys, they comfort me.
Surely faster laps and consistency shall follow me
all the days of me life.
And I shall dwell in the center of the podium
Forever.
That. Was. Awesome. (thumbs up icon)
I like that guy, he's a fan. Sure beats the hell out of the usual "..please keep our participants safe.." stuff the guys that do our spectator races here come up with.

Awesome
In reply to Salanis:
That's the Church of the Holy Cone, right? Way Cool. I think y'all came up with that shortly before I got here.

Yep. And I wrote the original.
speaking of the bible for the church of the holy cone...does anyone need a new copy of it? i have it saved from when i put it together
I was watching this live last night. Mrs BDT was reading Vogue and not paying any attention... until he got to the 'smokin' hot wife' part.
"Did he just say that? What the heck are you watching?"
Best invocation ever!
this is the exact opposite response from what i've seen on a couple of other sites that have more people that admit to being NASCAR fans.. people actually got all offended by it and said it was a disgrace to Christians, NASCAR, and America in general..
I have never been a fan of the "invocation". I am not deeply religious, and I don't like it being shoved down people's throats that don't want it.
Maybe I am being a wet blanket, but racing should not be a religious experience. Aside from the religion of racing... that's a different story.
As a non-religious guy, I don't mind an invocation at a race event. It is a privately funded an operated organization and they can do that if they want. I am not obligated to bow my head in deference and take part in the prayer. If I felt pressure, I could-and probably would-leave or not return.
I do think that "Dear Lord, please allow our sports team to beat the crap out of their sports team" prayers are asinine. This one was about "Thanks for the good things in life that we enjoy," and I'm cool with that.

Agreed! But, when I was younger and learning how to race, there were a few moments that could have been classified as being a "religious experience" that was usually followed by a string of curses or heart palpatations.
And those NASCAR invocations seem so contrived, insincere, phony....and the crowd knows it in a "wink-wink" way. My personal opinion, anyone feels opposite, or offended, I respect that.. Don't want this thread to flounder

Of course they did.
I thought it was funny and uplifting and had a positive message. I bet he had standing room only for this morning's service.
If you were the minister of a small chuch in the small town of Lebanon Tn and you got a call asking you to do the invocation at the next NASCAR race at the Nashville SuperSpeedway, what would your prayer be?
Damn, aint life good!
Ricky Bobby sits down to pray to the dear Lord Baby Jesus to thank him for a wonderful meal, his two beautiful sons, Walker and Texas Ranger and his red-hot, smokin' wife, Carley.

You're doing it wrong. :)

There are always some people who will get their shorts in a wad. I went to my Dad's today and a house full of Christian Nascar fans played it for me a dozen times and thougtht it was great. Like a pastor had told us growing up, "If you don't think God has a sense of humor, look at some of the people sitting around you."
