Been perusing CL. Hoping to find a solid <$1000 two post lift for personal use in my garage. Mainly lightweight vehicle use, and rare/infrequent use at that. Prefer an open floor vs. a base plate lift, and assymetric as well.
Anybody know of anything available in the great lakes region? Leads appreciated.
I missed out on this one as it's already sold...

Guy also has a base plate lift for the same price.. but it was used outdoors...
This BendPak is near me. The model # listed doesn't seem to match up to anything I can find online. I'm guessing it's a 9,000lb. capacity symetric lift.

Trying to keep this low budget, as this is a limited time side hobby for me, and I don't need a hoist to make me money. I'd prefer to buy an older quality solid hoist, rather than a cheaply made new one. Any general advice is appreciated.
...will be going into a 3rd stall of a garage. I have yet to drill/test concrete. Ceiling trusses will be modified for additional clearance... nothing above the bay, 10' ceilings to start, and the side wall is a gable wall, so lots of room to box upwards to make a "car bubble" with appropriate truss modification.

Around here shiny happy people want as much for a used one as a new one.

Pretty much what I've found too
I've never done any auction perusing... I'll give that a shot. I have more space to fill up and and could use lots of goodies...
welder, torches, drill press, etc.
Pretty small niche market. As your looking price is pretty darn close to the new prices, you might just want new for the warranty, manual, and such.

I bought mine from a trade school that was upgrading to a newer one. $750 for an industrial grade Western lift that had been exceptionally well maintained. Just reached the end of it's depreciation cycle, and was upgraded for insurance reasons related to the student usage.
Aresco is in Pontiac. They sell used service equipment. That's where I got my scissor lifts from. In a nut-shell, it wasn't a bad experience. Gimme a call and I'll tell you about my experience if you want more details.
They have lifts, tire-changers, jacks, anything.

I'd be more than happy to go look at what they have for you if you are interested BTW.
Go to a local supplier and talk.
A garage may be trading up or just starting out, maybe the local salesman is willing to take your money and empty a shelf or two.
