Ther is no need to worry, it was probably a company work van.
Those company trucks are tougher than your own vehicle.
A friend of mine's family owns a marina. Just this year a State owned boat launch opened across the river from him. I know he did not take my advice but I told him that I have the secret to his million dollars. He needs to place a video security style camera pointed right at the launch. Every morning just review the footage and he will have nearly endless material for America's Funniest Home Videos.
Just try it, spend a few hours at a boat launch on Memorial Day Weekend (the start of summer.)
I thought for a second there that it just might work. Then I remembered reality, and the laws of physics.
carpet the floor of the van, and don't back down so much, those things will pull themselves out of the water. then you have enough traction to get out of the water

Quoted for Truth.
BTDT and still laugh about it.
My father used to be a marine mechanic... I do remember him helping to pull a late 60s (this was in the 70's) Olds wagon out of the bay here in Ocean City after the owner backed in too far and the tide came in before he could get it out.
Basically, he did not realise that the ramp only went so far and stopped.. dropping several feet to the mud. Rear wheels hanging out over nothing have NO traction.
