I knew who posted this one just by reading the title. Wonder why that is.

As far as the Birthers, Liberals and just about every one else.

"Americans across the political spectrum distrust the news media..."

That is the main problem.

Could it possibly be that EVERY other president in modern history HAS been required to show his birth certificate, and promptly did so with zero fuss or reason for public scrutiny?

Nah. That couldn't be it.

Oh, and for the record, while I don't like Obama or his presidency, I don't particularly feel it was won fraudulently. Other than the general fraud perpetrated by almost every politician, just to get elected in the first place.

I'd actually say that if they didn't have talking heads on both sides telling them to distrust the media they would realize it's actually pretty good.

Are you going to discredit his statement by pointing out that legal birth certificates as we know them now didn't exist until recently or are you going to make a relevant argument by pointing out a president in the last 40-50 years who didn't produce a birth certificate?

As far as I know... While many people will throw out crazy rants and articles to influence people to vote in noone has gone under this sort of scrutiny nor has there been a "show your birth certificate or go straight to jail do not collect $200" effort with anyone.

Is there a "showing of the birth certificate ceremony"? nope, never has been the real call for one until a black guy go into office.

The reason no one else hasn't had anyone looking at their birth records is that there have been no doubts about anyone else. It was either very clear or proof was furnished. This guy has tried to avoid the scrutiny which or course makes everyone suspicious.

I just presumed that since it was a prerequisite for the job that there was some sort of system that proved you up before you could run. Apparently not.

I'm still hoping he's not proven a borned citizen, but for all the wrong reasons.

Yes sir, this shows how well rounded your viewpoints of politics in America are...except do we really believe you read the Christian Science Monitor page

Iggy, Did you consider that "black" didn't enter into it. Maybe it was just the possibility that he wasn't born here. Maybe they thought they couldn't beat him in a stand up fight and were grasping at straws.

Just FYI, I think he was and have no dog in this fight.

I'm a southern redneck and I didn't vote for him, but the color of his skin didn't even enter into my decision. Policy > skin color.

Seriously? Don't you have to show one to get a job in pretty much every public service position? Seriously, I am asking?

As for the "attacking him because he's a black guy" stuff-the gov't isn't trying to discredit him, the opposition is and it doesn't have to be because he is black. The opposition tried really hard to discredit Bush claiming their was doubt about his education. The opposition tries to discredit everything about the opponent. Hell-the media drew cartoons with Bush as a monkey yet you can't question anything about Obama without being racist?

Legal birth certificates didn't exist then? I'm older than him and I have one.

And as many others have pointed out there is no notary, or recording stamping anywhere on there. It has none of the trappings that all the other birth certificates of that era have. Supposedly it's not even on the forms that were used back then.

Interesting thought: The repubs could prove Obama isn't a citizen and in a great show of compassion change the laws and allow him to stay in office. That would open the door for:

Ahnuld!

(Although that may present some problems with the "War on Drugs!)

No. usually a passport will do. Passports require your birth cert.. This is why the argument is stupid. He was a senator and therefore had to go through a bunch of background checks to get there..

But.. I guess the possibility that some vast consipracy has taken over the country to screw over "real america" is better news than... "The black man scares me"

Ohh boy.. You sound like me whining way back when about how gore got robbed of an election.. Grow up.. or admit you're a racist.

You can be so predicable, you post up an article that avoids the obvious answer,"Produce the real certificate". Then because I am not distracted you start name calling. How can my words be construed to have anything to do with race. Only a racist resorts to racial cries when faced with a problem they can't effectively argue.

I would vote for this man

In reply to carguy123:

he even wrote this in his first book:

"I discovered this article, folded away among my birth certificate and old vaccination forms, when I was in high school."

though i would love to see him go, i suspect he was born here. i also suspect the reason he doesnt simply end this whole thing is that his parents may have put 'muslim' as his religion on the official long form (as his father was a muslim) and his team feels that would have a negative impact on public opinion despite the fact that babies dont choose their own religion at birth...

besides he's not a muslim, he's a black-liberation theologist.
