Yes, any ring is going to be able to damage the finger. The issue with titanium is that without special equipment, it's impossible to cut off if the finger is swelling.

I like my tungsten ring, except like titanium it cannot be resized. I've lost about 40 pounds and now it won't stay on my finger. Something to consider.
