I noticed Lowes has this on sale for $200, apparently their site is over loaded, luckily, best buy has it too.

https://www.bestbuy.com/site/swann-4580-8-channel-4-camera-indoor-outdoor-wired-1080p-1tb-dvr-surveillance-system/6286343.p?skuId=6286343&ref=212&loc=1&ds_rl=1266837&ref=212&loc=1&ds_rl=1266837&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIzq2e_p3r3gIVFI7ICh2IqgvREAQYAiABEgIp5vD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

Any one use this system or a similar one from Swann before ?

Whats the scoop, worth the 200, worth the original 300, or is it junk ?  I am always weary of the very good reviews, especially the ones that read like the operators manual, so I am looking for the straight poop here.

I need to step up the security around my house, and the GF mentioned that she would like a system for her house.

Thanks

Steve

EDIT:  GameboyRMH, thanks for the quick response.
The Lowes site is somewhat working now, intermittently Here is the link to the system on lowes site.https://www.lowes.com/pd/Swann-Digital-Wired-Outdoor-4-Security-Camera-Kit-with-Night-Vision/1000528489

The link seems to be region-locked somehow but my dad has a Swann system. The big downside that was immediately apparent when setting it up was that it had no web interface - remote access can only be had from phone apps or a Windows app (that doesn't run on WINE). But that's unfortunately normal these days. Another now-normal but unfortunate feature is that remote access also has to go through the manufacturer's server that may go offline some day. The advantage of that is more idiotproof and centrally updateable login security which has historically been the glaring weakness of digital security camera systems.

Other than that it seems to work well as a security camera system, I had to search back for footage on it once so I've spent a decent bit of time with it.

I have 8 WYZE cameras showing up today and that was under $200. A friend of mine uses them and I'm impressed enough to buy some for our place.

I picked up the Swann system.

I don't have anything to compare it to, guessing it is about the same as the 4 camera HF Cobra unit.
Set it up for testing tonight (cameras not mounted yet, just indoor set up and test), it was easy enough hardware wise, the software was not to bad either, my issue was figuring out how to make my android phone scan qr codes, and scanning the right one first...

For 200 bucks I think it is OK so far.
