That is all
I was pleased to see an original 6 team win after a long drought. Hopefully the same thing happens next year, and it's Milbury holding back tears in the broadcast booth like Roenick was just now :).
Do-dada-do-dada-dadda-dadda-do,dada-do-dada-dadda-dadda-do
:( Neither is my team, but was really hoping to see Flyers take it. Really thought we would see game 7.
Oh well, congrats Hawks.
It was a great series...'Hawks played well and deserved it, but the Flyers were unbelievable. I can't remember a time when I saw a team that played so well with so little.

It was a good series, but not a great one. Game 1 was awful, and game 5 wasn't much better. Almost every year a team comes from behind, surprises people and plays over their heads. That's what makes the Stanley cup playoffs the best tournament in the world. It's totally unpredictable.
I watched it all. When Philly tied it up I thought "Great, another home win" I was happy to see the Hawks win it. The last time they did was the year before I was born. Now I can die happy.

I watch online. Atdhe.net Great series. Goalies were good, not great except when necessary cause the D collapsed. Especially for Leighton. How many shots did he face anyway?

Oh how myself and most of Chicago can't wait for that song to go away.
^^^some real big Amstel Light fans up there, huh?
disappointing, but Chicago earned it. maybe their fans can all stop obsessing about Pronger now.
(disclaimer: if Pronger was not on my team, i would hate him. but he is, so i love him. and every 'Hawks fan would feel the same way if he'd spent the Final beating the crap out of Mike Richards or Danny Briere.)
i will admit that i couldn't have cared less when the Flyers made the playoffs b/c i didn't see any reason to invest in them...they looked soft; they looked like underachievers. but they certainly showed a lot more than i thought they had, and it was a great run. didn't end the way i would have preferred, but they played their asses off and lost to a better team. can't ask much more than that.
hats off to the 'Hawks and their fans. enjoy it.
Now, go Phils!

then Montreal should have played better.
Pronger is to hockey what Bill Lambier was to basketball. A big ugly thug.
But yeah, you are right I'd like him more if he played for Chicago. The Flyers showed a lot of gumption in beating the Bruins, and the finals were fun.
I'm not a rabid hockey fan, but there are many, many Chicagoans who have stuck by the Hawks through some horrible years. It is great to see those guys be able to celebrate for once.
Now if the Cubs could just win.......

Picky, picky.
I'm a Bruins fan(I have heard all the jokes already),and I was thrilled to see the 'Hawks win it. I don't have a huge hate for the Flyers like I do for other teams, but I really didn't want them to win with guys like Carcillo,Ashamn, and Hartnell on that team. I suppose I would like most of those guys if they were wearing Black, and Gold so I am a hypocrite, but man did I hate those players in the Philly/Boston series.
Also the B's losing to the Flyers kept me form seeing another B's Habs series which I love so much for no good reason because the B;s almost always come out on the wrong side of those, but it is fun anyway.
Congrats to the 'Hawks, and their fans!! I suppose with their cap issues it would have to be this year to win the cup cause next year they may lose a few good players.
was any one watching ?.... it wasn't all that many yrs ago that the NHL allstar game was on TV and was out drawn by such popular shows as Designing on a Dime ... and others ~ the same...

Pronger is hardly a thug. He's a very talented defenseman.

They were fortunate to get as far as they did. If Washington, or Pittsburgh had shown up, they would have been out early.
I was (obviously) really happy about the whole ordeal. Niemi came through BIG when it was needed, and the rest of the team did their jobs. Byfuglien owes Kane and Toews big time, those two made him a household name for anyone into hockey. I was real happy for Hossa, nice to see him finally get the trophy.
Flyers? Wow. I was impressed, they had... uh... Pronger and Richards, and thats it, really, versus the Hawks Hossa, Kane, Toews, Seabrook, Keith, Sharp.... They played great.

The second part of that is true. But he is the definition of a thug, although one of the best defensemen in NHL history, probably among top 20 (off the top of my head). Being a thug has its place in hockey, every team has one. Its just not common for the thug to also be a very good player all the way around, so uncommon for the thug to be so prominent in the series.
Also, for those who don't like the Flyers because they are a "cheapshot" team, keep in mind that they've had that mentality since the Broad Street Bullies era... And I respect that very much, if only because of what they did to the Russian team during the height of their prowess. Russia actually was on the verge of not coming back for the 2nd or 3rd period because they had never seen such physical hockey. Around then, it was a big deal.
