It looks very third worldy and Eastern Block/Iron Curtainish. It must have been put together by French Canadians.
as long as it has a trailer hitch it would be perfect for hauling a pair of Skidoo snowmobiles around..
why does this pic make me want to start making "Canadian Army" jokes?
Drove one while in the Canadian Forces. Gutless but you could go just about anywhere including underwater, well almost. Ask me how I know.

Sadly the Canadian contribution to the war in Afghanistan was far greater than this, both in terms of equipment, and loss of life. I don't think you checked your facts very well.
The Canadian forces stopped using the Iltis in Afghanistan because they lost so many to IED's. We lost around 160 soldiers to that war, including a bunch that had a US bomb dropped on them.

your sense of humor is broken. you should get that looked at.
It is funny. Afghanistan is a land locked country. Facts indeed.
What if it was a joke about Americans in Vietnam?
Feel better?
The original Audi quattro was developed by putting Iltis drivetrain components in an Audi sedan shell. Bombardier either bought, or licenses the rights to build the Iltis from VW-Audi.

You know what would have been a better response? "I'm sorry." Or "I apologize, I didn't realize that this isn't s funny matter". No need to troll for an argument as you did.
Regardless, this is GRM, and I am happy to forgive you for the poor judgment and response. Things happen.
Back on topic -- I have never seen a privately-owned Iltis, so I can't offer much insight. They don't look like they have very good approach angles for rough terrain. They've mostly been replaced by G-Wagens.
