So there's this 1982 RX7 GSL that I bought about 5 years ago. I only got through the parts-collecting stage before life got in the way (I've now got three kids and an old house to deal with, toy cars aren't necessarily on the life plan right now). Had a Racing Beat exhaust, some other junk (brake lines, etc) collected. Wife's uncle (who's a card carrying gulf-war-syndrome-having vet) expressed interest in it since he'd had an RX3 back in the day that he liked, so I sold the whole works to him for what I had in it, which was, I think $1200. Fast forward a couple years- he's still got it, hasn't done a thing with it, and he's referred to it as "your RX7" to me on separate occasions twice now. It's his, legally, name's on the title and everything, I've told him if he wants to be rid of it to sell it. The only part he HAS sold was the header-back exhaust, which was probably worth more than the rest of the car. :|
Do I: A: Do the man a solid (he's my wife's uncle and a nice fellow to boot) and scrape together some cash and buy him out of it, then decide what to do with it from there?
Or B: Just say "sorry, I thought you wanted it- we talked about this when I sold it to you"
I'm kinda leaning towards A right now, just to keep the extended familial peace. I can get the little money out of it from somebody else eventually, it just might stick around here clogging up my yard for a little while.
Anybody ever do this?
