Found some news:
http://www.wcvb.com/news/local/metro/Explosions-reported-near-Boston-Marathon-finish-line/-/11971628/19757044/-/ktnc1wz/-/index.html?hpt=hp_t1
Just heard about this a few minutes ago. We have some coworkers working the finish line there, and we've heard from a few and they are safe. We still haven't heard from some. This is messed up.
Why the hell would anyone want to do this?
I have Boston PD/ FD/EMS scanner feed on live at Radioreference
http://www.broadcastify.com/listen/feed/6254/web
sounds like two seperate explosions, one delayed after the first. news is just coming in, but it sure looks like intentional terrorism.
The delay is usually to draw in first responders and then hit them with the second explosion. I highly doubt this is an accidental explosion.
Thoughts and prayers to those there.
News I heard is that they have identified 2 satchels or bags from security footage. These were left in the area of the explosions.
It's probably a good idea to avoid speculation for a while...looking at the realtime coverage on Google News, the stories coming in from news sources are all over place. Wait till they figure out what really happened.
Round-up of news found so far here:

Apparently some other bombs have been found and detonated by police.

I'll wait, but the news people won't.

of course i had to go look. lots of blood on the sidewalk that looks like where one of the blasts went off. they're also reporting that boston PD continues to find secondary devices.
listening to the feed, someone just requested all EOD dogs to Exter and Boyleson (?)

You don't need to worry "President Barack Obama was notified about the incident." (from the first link) Not to be callous or even political, but WCVB.com said it as if that meant you shouldn't worry, everything would be OK now.
London is upping security for it's Marathon this weekend. That I understand, but ABC says because of this they've closed Pennsylvania Avenue in front of the White House. Why?
Because if they don't close Pennsylvania Ave and something happens, then there will be hell to pay. But if nothing happens, nobody gets in trouble.
I lived along the marathon route for a few years and had many friends and neighbors run it. It mostly runs through the suburbs and was like a 26 mile long block party to kick off spring with your neighbors... definitely one of my favorite memories of that area. My old neighbor even proposed to his fiancee right at the finish after they both crossed it together.
It angers me that I will probably never feel the same way about it again.
I really just do not understand actions like this. Sorry, nothing useful to add... just need to vent a little...

Yup, news outlets are all in such a rush to be the first ones with the story they don't do their due dilligence to make sure what they are reporting is accurate.
