I came across the dealer as I traveled this week and they have a Civic Si available. Just kidding, somebody had a deposit down.
Dude from Penske Honda calls - you can put a refundable $500 deposit down and get in line. Both models AND we sell at MSRP with NO add on options or jacked up price or waxes or interior sealant. Nothing extra.
I think about it - I'm looking at a Chevrolet Colorado or Toyota Tacoma and I'm hitting the upper $30k number - why not throw down $500 and wait all year? Who cares? The red or black CTR stickers at $44,400?
He calls me back - they took too many deposits says Honda so they cut me off. They won't fill the allotments they have says Honda. So no go on waiting all year.

Allegedly Honda gives the Indycar drivers a CTR and at some point they turn them in back to Penske Honda. He said they run them all through The Captain's Honda Store in Indianapolis. So the kid said to watch the used cars for them to pop up for sale.
Or it's a bunch of bull E36 M3.

Honda can't build enough to meet demand so Honda gives a small group of cars out to be driven and turned into used cars.

what ACTUALLY happens is the Honda drivers get credit to purchase whatever they want based on their finish etc. Most will buy the most expensive, tricked out whatever (used to be an Acura because they were worth more) hold them for a month or two and then sell them back to the dealer at almost sticker price. Dealer then sells them to the public with all the addons and everyone makes money.
I used to meet a lot of the indycar drivers back then. Meeting Dan Wheldon a few times the highlight. He was such a pleasant, fun person. He never made you feel like you were lesser than he. Danica on the other hand....
What is a "CTR"? Civic Type R, or something else?
