I finally went over to the website for the Chevy Cruze as sold in the U.K.

Not only is the Euro Cruse available with a choice of 2 diesel engines, it also has a 5 year warranty, 5 year service is included, and 5 year roadside assistance.

They also have the Chevy Spark, a model that folks were polled a few years ago, as to whether 1 or 2 of what were then auto show concepts should be put into production.

Wow, what a line up?
Spark - Daewoo, smaller than Aveo
Aveo - Daewoo
Lacetti - Daewoo sold as a Suzuki in the US
Cruse - seems to be the flagship

Captiva SUV - likely another Daewoo.

I really like the Cruze. I think its a very good looking car, and decent amounts of car per money.

Actually, all of the names are a bit...lame? Cruze makes it sound like the kind of car that would be aimed at surfers stuck in the '70-'80s.

I was just struck by the difference in warranties.

And for what it's worth, even the Cruse is considered to be an "also ran" in the U.K.

I still think GM is nuts for not bringing the Cruze hatchback to the US, and for not considering an SS version of either.

As for the Spark, a guy on another forum I go to has a buddy who is test-driving a Spark around Detroit. He says it's slow and the interior is Cobalt-level bad.

I don't know why they'd market the same car more than once. I mean, it's an Astra J. That grill uglies it up a LOT.

Wow, that is a really good looking 5 door. Damn you GM!

I liked the last astra GM sent over here too, they even left the name on it instead of rebadging it. I just wish is came with something other than a 1.8L.

The 1.8 is pretty gutless. Ask the one in my driveway.

In reply to Derick Freese:

I was thinking about asking about astras. They atleast look good.

But so did the Reno...

Another weird thing I noticed about the Astra is that there's no front cupholders. Its a nice looking car though.

There is one cup holder up front, and a place to put a bottle in the door card. The rear cupholders are about 6 inches further back than the front one, leaving them accessible to the front seat occupants.
