I read a lot of issues over and over again. GRM and CM.

What happened to this guy? Where did he go?

I met him and his wife at Road America as he spent the day buzzing around the outside in one of those Atom's allowing his wife the opportunity to "man" the book table.

I believe he's writing for another magazine now. The parties involved are probably not going to discuss the details on the board. I'd love to see him back at GRM/CM. Let me tell you, after spending a day with the guy, he's at least twice as much fun to hang out with as you might hope.

The first time I met Burt I mentioned that I had writen a few articles for the local Z club newsletter but they never quite sounded just the way I wanted them to. He told me to send him one and he'd read it. The next week I mailed him one of my stories and damned if he didn't send me an accurate review with some suggestions to help pep up my writing.

I was very honored that a famous writer (hey, he has real hardback books that you pay money for) would take the time to read much less respond to some idiot that walked up to him in a race paddock.

At the 2007 24hrs at Daytona myself and a couple of buddies were cooking steaks beside the ambulance which was parked next to the GRM mobile home and Burt walked over to talk. We invited him to have a steak and a beer (okay many beers) and listened to his stories for a while. To this day he remembers me as the ambulance and steak guy. Now when ever he see me at a race he always asks if I brought steak.

We had Bert as a speaker here at our English car show (Brits in the Ozarks) in 06. He was good. We had the PubliDork in 07 and the (former) head of Triumph USA last year. This year, we have a MG guy. Ya'll need to plan on coming in September.

I think I will be there, now that you mention it. That might be perfect timing for me, and not too far away.

Hey Doc, is that added to the event calendar yet? I'll be watching for it, and may try to make it. Good show.
