While following a Nissan GT-R to work this morning, I realized that I have loved AWD performance cars since I saw my first Quattro blast down a rally stage on late-night TV. I vividly recall seeing an Impreza with a roll cage sitting in the port in Grenada before anyone knew the name in the US. I knew everything there was to know about the Eagle Talon/Mitsubishi Eclipse/Plymouth Laser. (Wanted one then, still want one now) I sat in the first 2.5 RS at a car show and dreamed about owning one. I drooled over every specification of the 3000GT VR-4. I went to the local Mitsu dealer to see the first Evo that come stateside. I even got a thrill ride in an ex-Pikes Peak Talon once. And yet, I have never actually driven one myself. Or even ridden in a street-legal WRX or EVO.

So that's my bucket list. I want to get a ride in and possible drive some of my favorite cars. If you have such a vehicle, I may ask to ride shotgun at the autocross or down to the 7-11. Nothing crazy, just go for a ride and check it off my list.

Wouldn't sports cars to drive before you die be a "bucket seat" list?

Aston Martin DBR9. I have been in love with that car since I saw them at Mid Ohio for one of the ALMS races.

Are you a regular at any local Autox? I've gotten to drive some cool cars that way. STI, EVO, S2000, 3 Rotor RX7, and a few others. Most of the guys that were regulars with the series I ran with would let you co-drive for the their entry fees and lunch.

Got to drive an EVO III a few years ago. I just about brought one into the US as a track only car because it was so fun so I hear you. I really liked the last Talons too. If I saw a clean one I'd have a hard time passing on it.

I've been fortunate in my life to drive or ride in a lot of cars on my list, but I still have a few. After seeing a 4C in person yesterday, they are now near the top. I know the GRM crew didn't like it, but I don't care. Wow, what an unbelievable looking car.

I've long had a thing for mid engine cars, owning a few dozen of various flavors, and have driven a Ferrari 308, but I'd love to drive a newer one, such as a 360 or 458. And I'm still in total lust for a Europa.

I've never driven anything with more than 300hp, or anything mid-engine. I have a loooong bucket list of cars that I'd be happy just to sit in, much less drive.

I've managed to drive some pretty awesome cars in my life. I still kick myself for not jumping at the chance to pay to ride in an F-40 around a quick auto-x track. The tops of my list have been a Ferrari F430 my brother and I rented for obscenely cheap for an afternoon, got some seat time in a GT-R a few nights back, driven multiple porsches. And again for obscenely cheap my brother and I rented an Aston Martin DBS, also got my hands on a Fisker Karma one night.

While my bride was signing papers on her car I asked about the GTR in the lot and the guy called his secretary and asked for the keys. Just as she handed em over, they're sitting on the desk and I'm reaching for them, some other sales guy rushes in and says "where are the keys for the GTR, I've got a buyer" and that was that. A few more seconds, I coulda gone fer a joyride I mean test drive...

completely understandable......

I've actually had the good fortune to drive one of my bucket list cars... and it was long before a bucket list... I worked at a country club parking cars... and I got to drive a 365 GTB/4... it was only about 200 yards....

my driving bucket list is pretty short... spend a week @ the Nurburgring with MY car

A tough call but probably a Porsche 962. As a kid I had a huge fascination with them and still can't walk by one without stopping and looking inside.

Would love a spin in a prewar racer. Something like an amilcar c6 or wolseley hornet special

Been in some amazing stuff. But still on the list is a F40, I just want to sit in a Auto Union D and while I have been in a 917 never one under power.

If you can get to Northern VA one weekend when I'm driving again, we can make that happen in an HF.

Renault R26?

Any F1 car, really, but this one is available for a mere $2300 per lap. :)

You need to get a drive in a proper mid-engine car, not a computer controlled "you can't spin" car like some of the newer ones. There's nothing like balancing it with the throttle on track, they're magic.

Sadly, my lists gets longer every year instead of shorter. #1 is a McLaren F1, followed by a whole host of vintage Ferrari.

1967 Corvette vert with a 427 4 speed. Love the car - always have. I just need to drive one hard for a short time so that I can stop lusting for one as I bet I would be hugely disappointed the handling and ride. Which is great, seeing how I would never be able to afford one.

I also want to drive an Elise. That may finally open my wallet.

I have some serious Elise lust but I have no idea if I'll even fit in one. Probably not.

Had one behind me in traffic yesterday as I was driving home from work - it's one of few cars where in my Miata, I'm actually about at the same level as the other driver haha

Don't actually drive them. Almost every time I got to drive an OMG AWESOME car, I was brutally disappointed.

The latest disappointment was a Cobra. Well, a Factory Five, but the gist is the same. It's very loud with half an engine blatting two feet from your ear, the wind is oppressive, it's somewhat uncomfortable, and the windshield is extremely annoying since it mainly reflects the inside of the car instead of allowing a view of the road. The shifter is nice though, I thought the reverse cantilevered shifter would be the thing I couldn't like but it turned out to be the thing I thought the coolest.
