I travel a ton for work.  Typically I am in hotels 3 nights a week.  Luckily I only have to fly 3-4 times a year.  Most of my travel is within 400 miles of my house so I just drive.

The thing I hate about flying to the west coast is the time change when you are not given a chance to adjust.  Flying from Scranton pretty much means a 6 am flight is my only option.  Which means I am getting there around 5, leaving the house a little after 4 and waking up around 3 am.  I usually land around noon Pacific.  So while I have been up since midnight their time, had a crappy night sleep, and am usually pretty hungry by the time I get there, they are ready to start meetings at 1pm.  Im usually asleep by 630 pm and Tuesdays are always a better day.  The last couple times I went I flew out on Sunday.  It sucks to have a short weekend but the boss lets me take a comp day and it gives me a few hours to see all the rust free cars and fill up on In n Out before a week of sitting in a windowless room.

My experience is that we typically try to get 6 days of work done in 5 days when we travel for work. So on top of the flying hassles we work 10-12 hour days, suck down some chain restaurant dinner, go to the hotel, catch up on emails and then sleep for a few hours, repeat for 4 nights. The highlight of the trip is if you fly in or out during daylight hours you may see the area from the air. Good times.
